How to pick a Guadalupe great white liveaboard

You can spring for the Vortex. It goes really fast, which is good if you don't care for the open seas. Otherwise Nautilus runs a fine operation. Great setup for shark baiting, comfortable living, and really good food. I only did cursory research on Solmar.

Have you considered the Damai in RA? Doesn't look like budget is too much of a problem.

    Input on Taveuni Dive Resort

I was there in July of 2017. Tiny place and you will be going in the shoulder season. Expect superb treatment and food. Go all-inclusive as there isn't much around it. I don't recall if there is an even an option to go a la carte actually. The showers are "open" in the rooms along the...

    Apex v. Deep6 v. Atomic

I would separate your rec and tech reg choices. The Z2 is an excellent breather for rec. I use Deep 6 for tech sidemount. Both are very affordable.

Closed Perdix AI - $700 shipped

Selling a Perdix AI. The only wear is on the screen protector. I lifted it to make sure the screen is good. You may want a new protector to iron out the bubbles. 104 dives. Treated me so very well. Selling because my dabbling in tech is over for awhile. Comes with case and all accessories...

Question about Chuck Taylors as rock boots

I have a USIA suit too and use different fins than soft booties. When you account for the drysuit sock plus your cold water boot sock (or fleece sock) you are looking at sizing up the CTs. Just need a different tool for a different job.

Newbie Looking for Advice: 1st Wetsuit Selection

Saying you are easily chilled indicates a dry suit for local diving and a 3mm full for tropical. Possibly a boat coat to go over your 3mm. I get chilled easily as well. Keep in mind the chill factor of a wetsuit when you are out of the water and in the wind. Brrr.

7 weeks to dive, what should I do?

Sounds like a dream come true. I would mix it up with topside activities. Will be a life changer. Agree, go west. Couple weeks in the Philippines, couple weeks in Bali, week in Komodo, week in Thailand. Maybe PNG? Budget the rest of the days for travel. Might as well see the best in the...

    Fiji trip - initial plans

Fewer is better. Reduce your no fly days but at the same time make sure you explore nature. It really is remarkable there. Recommend you try Taveuni and Kadavu. Live the island life away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

    New diver headed to Taveuni

Can't help with all of it but 2. Use the ATM at the Nadi airport. It is after international arrivals and you will pass it on the way to domestic departures. I don't recall anyone preferring USD. Bring enough for the small stuff, taxis, and park admissions/services. Plan all the places you want...

DSS Small Size plate or similar (for kid)

I was searching for a small plate for my girlfriend and it basically came down to Oxycheq and Halcyon. Both are going to get you there. If you are mainly diving salt then go with SS. As Tobin told when I was getting started...it's not that much more weight to pack and it's perfectly positioned...

    Fiji Islands diving advice

Taveuni is great diving. Will your schedule include being there when the coral "bloom" on the White Wall? If so then go. Purple Wall is another standout. The Rainbow Reef is wonderful in general. Taveuni also has excellent hiking and waterfalls.
