Just looking at the Newport forecast. If you were to make a dive, Saturday between 10 & 2 would be the perfect time. 1-2ft seas, winds out of south, tides in your favor.
A 13cuft is kinda small to sling. But it is possible. I'd suggest something like the photos. Mounted with the valve facing down and lower on the plate would be my preference. Weighting shouldn't be too much of a concern. You could always move 1 lb to the other side. I wouldn't add weight...
I use the mobile app Ventusky. I have the pro version. It is 1000% worth it if you do any sort of offshore fishing. It allows me to see very reliable forecasts including swell height and duration very far offshore. I use it anytime I make runs to the canyons.
IMHO, the qualifications of all DM's are a direct result of the Instructor whom signed their card.
I feel the standards are fine across most organizations in diving. What isn't fine, is the quality of instruction and the level at which those standards are held. If we as a collective community...
Lighter trick works well. As far as the zip seals. I see nothing wrong. There isn't a difference in wrist seals like the g1 and g2 neck. Purchase any set of zip wrist seals and plop them in.
Good luck
Seems as if you have already made up your mind. I'd you are looking for confirmation of your decision... My input says drysuit.
You don't have to spend thousands. But make sure you buy something that fits well. That will check the box for local New England diving. If you only plan on traveling...
After 4 cups of coffee. This has peaked my interest. Here is what I found.

I've been in the logistics game for years. This reminded me of a product that the trucking industry has been using for well over a decade.

You would install the rings as usual, using a sacrificial wrist seal. Once installed cut out the visible portion of the seal. That simple.
As far as the 282's. I Googled a picture. I don't see why you couldn't. However, it will be extremely difficult with that lining it has. IMHO there are...
Boat is at a marina tied up to a fixed dock. 41' Rampage. Used mostly for offshore angling. We do dive from it though. Twin diesels with a generator and ac. 1200 gallon tank allows for a long range. Also comfortable enough for the wives when they want to go out.
Cheapest option I know of is:
The Floridian in Homestead, FL. I think it's like $40 to $60 per night. It is clean with great breakfast. But I would never take my wife there. It's between 30 and 45 to Key Largo by car, depending on what road you take.
The wife drove it. The last thing I want to deal with is having her tell me the car needs oil again. Traded it for a Q5. I haven't had to put a drop of oil in the new car in 3 years and over 75k. The oil gets changed every 5k, nothing between fills.
The Subie was nice, other than the fact you...
Had a 17 with a 2.5. I traded it in after 7 months and 23k. It was using a quart of oil every thousand miles. Dealer said it was common and within spec. A quick Google will show how wide spread the issue is.
Tested positive 3 times in 10 days. Hadn't the slightest clue I had it. Not a single symptom. Took the original test out of necessity for work. Was shocked to see a positive result, so I took 2 more a few days apart. I have since tested positive for antibody.
Best part of the whole ordeal...
