    Primary light for cave

I think it depends. I have both a light monkey VF 32 W light head and an Halycon Focus 2.0. In clear visibility I’d use either no problem. Also depends on if you team oriented or not. Signaling with the Focus 2.0 is easier. I also find the light Monkey has too bright of a corona on higher...

    DIR- GUE Long hose question

The OP didn’t even ask a question about the necklace regulator. Her question was about the long hose.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

That’s prob a bad stance to have…if you do this sport sometimes the first few times with a new piece of gear are uncomfortable but quickly become second nature. I’d expect to be told “suck it up and catheter up” by my instructor especially for someone like him that’s also an instructor and...

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

It does speak volumes…it shows a zero to hero mentality which can be part of chain of events leading to an incident. Glimpses into facts such as no p-valve for a 150+ min planned dive in a hot environment means knowingly dehydrating to avoid urinating. This I’m sure is not a one off, as he’s...

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

To be fair their YouTube channel is based on criticism of other people’s videos/accidents/buffoonery. They can’t be held to any different standard when they share their own story…

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

And would actually say wear diapers versus get a simple pee valve.

Here we go again...PST tanks marked E9791/SP9791

Non issue..buy..it’s been renewed so many times before. If PSI is constructive this time maybe they’ll help the renewal process versus launching a do not fill campaign ..

DIR- GUE Balanced rig with a thick wetsuit - mathematically impossible?

It is if you’re seeking a tech pass. Otherwise a Rec pass is the best you can hope for.

Looking at buying an Alkin W31 - Any advice?

Yours may be more of a P31 system (10” filter size). I believe the P41 are the same diameter but 18.5 in length. Either way an awesome upgrade considering a secondary filter tower would cost the same.

    DIR- GUE Long hose question

Not a dig. PADI is just the only agency I’ve ever seen with divers in their advertising pictures doing tech training without longhoses..so a mere suggestion they seek training with them.

DIR- GUE s-drill with a reel

No ratchet reels. Lock the reel or finger spool.

    DIR- GUE Long hose question

Doubtful any agency aside from PADI would make any accommodation regarding the long hose in technical/cave prep class.

    DIR- GUE Long hose question

If you only seek a rec pass maybe….If you want pursue a tech upgrade in the future….highly doubtful.

    UTD's New Sidemount Configuration

It actually wouldn’t because when they“switch regs” they are actually just closing a tank valve and they always breath off the long hose. I think they do that because the mixing manifold will always pull gas from the first stage with the lowest IP cracking pressure so you’d end with grossly...

    Question Air consumption

I personally feel swimming is prob the best bang for buck exercise to improve diving…both RMV and general comfort in water. I don’t think many agencies empathize this enough.

    Question Air consumption

Nobody’s addressing this but physical fitness also plays a huge role…the more aerobic fitness you have the lower your respiratory requirements get…there is clear correlation for myself at least.

Here we go again...PST tanks marked E9791/SP9791

And that’s the problem..they didn’t stay silent. Instead they Saber rattled and pumped out misinformation. They never actually spoke to PST and they inferred that PST wasn’t going to renew. PSI-PCI pumped out info about their work with DOT to circumvent the process to help us all out, but...

Here we go again...PST tanks marked E9791/SP9791

Maybe we can count on PSI-PCI to bring it up that’s been wrong for all 18 revisions.
