Any decent diving possible in Puerto Vallarta in mid-June? Pelagics?

Have been to PV before but this time we'd like to get in a few dives if it's worth taking our gear for, mostly wanting to find large animals (mantas/sea lions). My little bit of internet research isn't looking too hopeful... Los Arcos and Marietas Island get mentioned the most but I'm not sure...

    Question casa mexicana

Oceanfront room will likely be very loud during Carnival, might also be loud on the back side too but not sure (only stayed on the back side once, always OF after that). I personally would skip Carnival week, too much for me these days. I used to go to NOLA the weekend before Fat Tuesday for...

Yes I did and I just replied to it; thank you!

    Orcatorch Issues

I have 2 Orcatorch lights and have 2 issues - 1) os 1 of the rechargeable batteries no longer shows the green light once it is recharged (or even the red light sometimes when it is not) and 2) one of the lights UV light/feature is much dimmer than the other light and is basically unusable.

    coral bleaching ...

"Snow capped mountains" is exactly what I thought of on my dive earlier today, awful.

    coral bleaching ...

Totally agree. It's unusually calm/slow and seems to gets calmer the further south we go.

    Norte coming Nov 2023

Got in 1 (95 min) dive this morning but seas were rough, rains moved in and the port was quickly closed. Hopefully we will have a normal weather day tomorrow so we can hit some northern sites.

    coral bleaching ...

Here now and bleaching is pretty bad, more than I thought it would be. Columbia was especially bad. Some places still have some flesh left on the hard corals but very, very little overall. As a sidenote the lobsters are larger and more plentiful than ever before; maybe there is some...

    FOUND: a GoPro in Cozumel

I did (and still do) exactly this but the person who took mine apparently couldn't be bothered to at least let me have the SD back (which had some amazing splendids, eagle rays and shark footage). Here's my information in the ultra-slim chance this is my GP: A list of exactly what was lost: 1...

Where and what time of the year is generally considered the best diving in Japan?

Looking to put a Japan trip together next year and would like to add diving to the itinerary. So far the hammerheads at Mikomoto seem the most intriguing but I'm betting SB will have the full intel. TYIA!

    Trip Report November 2023

Thank you for your trip report! I'm headed down on Friday; hopefully the weather will be kinder to us for our trip.... Do you happen to recall your water temps?

    Cozumel Shore Diving

No worries, Mateo (definitely tall and skinny) from Aldora was by far one of the very best divers I’ve ever known/dove with and (I believe) he started freelancing in 2018/19 so I thought he might had ended up at BA.

    Cozumel Shore Diving

Off topic but is Mateo possibly the same Mateo who worked for Aldora specifically around 2016-2017? Tall and slender?

    My personal GoPro setup

No worries, YouTube has multiple videos, showing all of this, simply type in the full name of the lens and you’ll see what the different pieces are and how they all fit together. Also no, you do not need to buy anything else for fit, the mount comes with its own set of holes (that are exactly...

    My personal GoPro setup

The grip and mount are 2 separate pieces. You have to buy them both/they both come together in the box you must purchase to get the mount. You don’t have to connect the grip and mount together or use the grip at all to mount the lens. The mount connects to the GP housing perfectly by itself.

Coast Guard medevacs diver showing signs of decompression sickness from boat 100 miles off Galveston

There was a medical with a heli evac on my Fling trip back in 2017, happened on our 2nd to last dive. Everyone handled everything as well as I would have hoped for for myself had it happened to me instead. Still not 100% sure what his root cause was but the diver ultimately survived which is...
