Going back after a couple years.

Had a development come up - wife had to get a melanoma removed off her arm early November - its like a silver dollar size wound. Dr says she can dive - we were thinking about the practicality of that - she normally dives a full 5mm - its on her forearm and we were going to take a shorty and...

    Ostracod Dive on NYE?

Bonaire folks take their fireworks seriously.........the sky was lit up crazy around any of the populated areas when we were there Some other folks might chime in - maybe go to a less populated area - way north or south.

Closest Spring to dive from Orlando Florida

We just got back from it - my daughter loved playing rock paper scissors with the kids behind the glass. I just practiced blowing bubble rings. You could tell they were getting back in the swing from after covid - but it was run by very nice people and over all an enjoyable experience.

Closest Spring to dive from Orlando Florida

Johnoly - Great advice We stopped by Scuba Quest - they were way cool people. If I lived in Orlando, I would use them as my dive shop. There was a lady there that was so nice - I told her we were just killing time and one of the message boards told me they had some of the new exciting...

    Info SCTLD closures on Bonaire

What was surprising to me is that I got the normal Stinapa newsletter in my inbox today and it had no mention of the disease.

Going back after a couple years.

Thanks for the responses - Tkaelin - don't take my post as gospel - I got my "facts" from tripadvisor. I love Captain Don's it was just way easier to book Buddy Dive - (I have been to both) - and they were starting construction last time I was at Captain Dons and I had to park across the...

Going back after a couple years.

Just wanted to confirm the current process for going into Bonaire. 1. Pay a $75 dollar entry fee - where do we show that (Is this a new line at the airport) and paper copies or phone better? 2. Marine Park fee $45 - show at where you are staying I assume. 3. No COVID type paperwork needed? I...

Info Why are tables not taught in OW classes anymore?

You have to learn a programming language in order to get your degree (most never use it again) - you have a couple classes that use it - way back in the day it was fortran. Its something else today.

Info Why are tables not taught in OW classes anymore?

I come down on dive tables (I have one in my dive kit every trip) like I do a slide rule - my grandpa gave me one, I know how to use but not sure the value today when my phone can do everything it does. Conceptionally you should understand it, but I am not sure the value of using it when...

    Defining visibility

I know what a dumb question - I am with you on the depth thing (my daughter is in college to be an engineer so she is having some fun questioning my 35 year old engineering analysis) But - We dove in 80 foot of water and cold see the bottom clearly at 40-50 feet down as we dropped - I think...

    Defining visibility

Interesting question from my daughter filling her dive log after a dive. She asked me what the visibility was today and I told her 30 feet ish. She then asked me how I determined that - I was stumped - I just said I thought I could clearly make out stuff at 30 feet or so away. Is there an...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

Rats, I wanted to dive it Monday - we were looking at Sunday the 19th or the 20th Monday - Wanted to do Monday because high tide was a little later. When I read the post - you basically park where you normally park - (but probably the choice right by the bridge spots will be closed) and cross...
