I recommend mako for all gear, there fins are AWESOME! I use them on scuba.
I also like ab biller, I had a 48 paduk that someone snagged a few years ago. It was my favorite gun for freeshafting down here in the keys.
I use the mako compilation freedive fins on scuba all the time. You just have to learn how fat back they go so you don't hit stuff with them. I back roll into the water with mine.
It is also advisable to stay near the boat if possible, easier to see a sunk boat than a person in the ocean. The boat should also have an EPRB (it is international law for passenger vessels) that makes finding the sunk boat easy(er).
The best ones are the ones that work for you. I personally dont like split fin becaise they are too soft for me. Ask around locally to see if you can try out a few brands before tou buy, it sucks to spend $ on equipment you end up hating. Best of luck.
