Thank you. Truth in what you say for sure about this terrible tragedy, which has touched all of us in the diving community. We are all part of a big extended family, that shares a love of the sea and of exploration and adventure. Insurance can't touch the pain their families feel.

I agree it possibly could have been, but we didn't check that, since we had purchased the dive/trip package specifically for the liveaboard rider. But you reinforce my point, that pre-trip homework (such as contacting your CC company), can go a long way in avoiding problems and surprises.

Ironically, I had a torn meniscus out of the blue, right after we got home from our trip. Had no trouble getting in and out of the cages, but a strange coincidence.

Yeah, by day 3, there were plenty of openings in the deep cages. The captain said that was very typical, unless you get tons of sharks. The shallow cages were more fun anyway, and you could come and go in those, for as little or long as you wanted to.

IIRC, there was a couple on our trip that had come from either Sea of Cortez or Socorro, can't remember which, but I think it was a total of 16 days altogether?
