Not a doctor and so obviously can't and won't give you specific medical advice, but I had a somewhat similar medical issue and contacted DAN. They have a wealth of information at their fingertips and might be able to give you a more informed answer regarding the risks (if any) of diving with...
That makes sense to me (thanks), but that reasoning is applicable to any camera. The previous posters seemed to have a particular issue with the D200, which is what I was trying to ferret out...
But I totally hear what you are saying about having a spare. :)
Just interested as to why some folks would suggest not housing a D200. I have one that I am not using (now have a D700) and was considering housing it, but am interested in the thoughts of the folks here...
Just got back from Cancun and, on the recommendation of folks here, dove with Ben and Mayan Aqua Dive.
Absolutely terrific op with terrific people. And, of course, Ben and Carla couldn't be nicer. We had two absolutely splendid dives in which I saw more fish than I think I had ever seen...
Akona seems to run tall/large on the Men's side. I'm 6"8 and easily fit into a suit that is stated to be for those who are 6"4-6"5. Can't speak to whether the women's line runs a little on the tall/large side as well, but maybe someone else can chime in on that.
Also (and other people in this thread have made this point somewhat already in this thread and so disregard if you already know/understand), crossing over from one agency is pretty easy...
In other words, if you take a class with one agency but ultimately decide that you prefer an instructor...
I know lots of places fill Nitrox, but finding one that fills both Nitrox and Argon seems to be a bit more difficult to find.
Coming from Southie so bonus points for being close to the city...
My family is heading to Cancun in late May. We are 5-6 people and would like, if possible, to rent out an entire boat for a half day (2 dives). Does anyone have any experience with dive ops with whom this is possible?
If so, I'd be interested in hearing from you and the kind of experience...
No one is arguing that the person behind the lens is the most important piece in the equipment chain.
All I am saying is that, given two identical photographs, the one shot in RAW will ultimately offer more creative possibilities to the photographer in the post-processing phase than the one...
I can't speak to the individual characteristics of the cameras you've mentioned, but I will see that the ability to shoot in RAW (and to subsequently make non-destructive edits, which is what I have always understood the real advantage of RAW to be) is invaluable.
Not to get into the age-old...
Not to pile on, but agreed. If you don't know Ed and haven't taken this class (which is "technically" the PADI Buoyancy class, which as with all PADI classes, only prescribes "minimum" standards to be met), you really aren't in a position to comment.
That's great to hear. Whether people stick with GUE as a training agency for their diving education long term or not, the course is tremendously worthwhile and is usually pretty eye opening.
...to say nothing of the fact that it's actually a heck of a lot of fun. :D
Paul,
I was not there as a student, but as a GUE-trained diver there to assist Ed Hayes and George Bouloukos. As such, my perspective is probably a little different from what you were asking for.
Speaking personally, I had a great time interacting with the demo participants. Everyone present...
I am a GUE-F certified diver who is interested in furthering my education through GUE. I would ideally like to take both Tech 1 and Cave 1 later this summer/fall.
Shot in the dark here, but I am looking for another 1-2 people in the RI/Boston/NH area to potentially form a team that would...
Haven't used them and so I won't recommend them, but Manta Divers seems to come up fairly often in response to this request. I'd search "Manta Divers" in the forums to get a better idea of whether that is something that might suit your needs.
