She has a plate and wing with adapter for singles so stick with that for singles and get a dedicated sidemount rig, stealth or razor will work. I'm not long into my sidemount journey but have a razor with 100cuft steels and loving it.
Update: The transpac never got wet as I picked up a second hand Razor system shortly afterwards for $150AU.
Great bit of kit, diving twin 12 steels, 6lb of weight with 7mm wetsuit in freshwater no problems. Thanks again everyone.
As mentioned lift is the issue.
For you to (wearing enough weight to) hold a safety stop or mandatory stop with near empty tanks in shallow water you'd be struggling to stay off the bottom with full tanks at depth.
This problem is further magnified with a 7mm wetsuit versus a dry suit as the...
I bought my Razor 2nd hand ($150) but I'm pretty sure this is the factory setup, same as Sevenrider860 suggested. There's also two small retaining loops on the shoulder straps...
Ok thanks for that. If I sell the hollis wing and the single tank adapter (that comes with it) half price the harness owes me $100 US and I can add to it from there.
The diver in that pic... The tanks need positioning properly and the wing needs some bungees to hold it down but otherwise his...
Thanks everyone for your feedback, after reading through many posts On Scubaboard I've come to a (hopefully) informed decision..
I've picked up a Dive Rite Transpac XT and Hollis C45 LX Wing with only 10 dives on it for $400AUD, so at some stage I'll input my feedback on this setup.
Thanks...
I disagree, let's look at the variables...
Water temp: the buoyancy of water varies very little from cold to hot (even freezing to boiling).
Tanks: ally's get floaty arse end (more so catalinas over luxfer) so require a little more adjustment than steels as they deplete.
Suits: obviously the...
Thanks for the replies, I'd prefer to buy something I can use without mods at this stage, at least until I gain further experience with SM.
I plan to carry some redundant lift in the form of either a lift bag or smb, ultimately I'd like a dry suit when money permits.
I can get the Stealth 2.0 classic for $565 and the stealth 2.0 Tec for $612.
Apart from an extra 3kg lift (16kg v 19kg) in the Tec is there any major difference?
I'm looking to buy a sidemount harness and would appreciate some feedback on some available options.
I live in Australia, I have 12l steel tanks, diving wet in 7mm wetsuit in summer.
Some available harnesses are as follows (prices in AUD)
Seacsub kso-1 $350
Scubapro xtek sidemount $517
Hollis...
