Diving Quarrys in Ohio. What Wetsuit?

No, White Star is a LOT easier to get into. If you have bad knees, stay away from Gilboa, or at least the stairs.

Diving Quarrys in Ohio. What Wetsuit?

White Star has much easier access. No freaking stairs of death!

    AI computer for new diver

Suunto - no wonder your experience was crappy. I don’t use SPG at all. Shearwater transmitters only. No issues.

    AI computer for new diver

Do you have any experience with Shearwater transmitters? Lots of folks tech dive with just transmitters these days.

    Question SCUBA, the self-policing industry

There were lots of people dying in the FL caves in the 60s and 70s until Sheck Exley analyzed the accidents and wrote a little booklet called “A Blueprint for Survival.” That started cave training as we know it. Suddenly the deaths of non-cave trained divers really dropped. One of the big causes...

    Question SCUBA, the self-policing industry

Divers who aren’t cave trained and die in a cave will likely result in demands from the family/friends of the dead diver(s) to shut down access to the cave, even though it was the non-cave trained dead diver(s)’ own hubris and stupidity that caused their death. It’s happened a number of times...

    Question SCUBA, the self-policing industry

Midwest dive shops/quarries will at least ask for a card the first time if they don’t know you.

    Beginner questions!

SM future proofs your diving. I know some guys at the local diving hole who switched from doubles to SM because of physical issues. I just roll my gear all over the place in a collapsible canvas cart. I’ve had people scoff at me until they get tired of carrying gear. Then they ask where I got...

    Beginner questions!

How old are you? If you’re diving at local inland locations, SM works well. If you have any history of leg/back issues, not having a tank on your back is lovely. I have bad knee issues and I’ve been doing SM for a number of years. I cave dive SM open circuit and SM my CCR bailout, but a pair of...

Medical Fatality in Plura cave system in Norway

Figured that was probably a good bit of it. With Jared's closeness to our community, and a preliminary report that answers many of our questions (pO2 1.3), further debate is not fair to the family that is doubtless reading this thread. Starting a separate thread to re-debate some of the...

Medical Fatality in Plura cave system in Norway

Wow. And that was a very quick accident report release. Anyone know why exactly DAN would be involved on this one?

    Suggestion A smartphone/Tablet APP

There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with the way SB appears on mobile. I access it solely on Safari on iPhone and iPad. No issues. Tried TapTalk years ago. That app has cancer.
