    Question Panama Diving Recommendations?

Oh yeah, I've stayed in the house too. It's pretty nice and certainly has a lot more room for a family to spread out, compared to the hotel. There's a nice back porch too. If you decide to go in June or July, lemme know, I'll be there off on those months.

    Question Panama Diving Recommendations?

There is a tiny little piece of beach at the bongo hotel. There is a little island a few hundred meters out with a better beach, but some local shop charges to ferry you out there. Finally, there are a couple of nice beaches that are accessible only by boat. Rey takes his divers to those for...

    Question Panama Diving Recommendations?

@BoundForElsewhere, if your interested in Portobelo, the owner of Golden Frog Scuba (Rey) can help arrange for transportation if you don't want to drive. It's not that difficult, but there is a part of the drive that can be a bit sketchy. He operates out of small hotel on the Caribbean (Hotel...

    Question Panama Diving Recommendations?

Portobelo, on the Caribbean side, is about 1.5 hours from Panama City. My friend owns a shop in Portobelo (Golden Frog Scuba) and runs really enjoyable, laid back trips. If you want to go to Bocas, you can fly from the Albrook airport to David. That will cut out about 8 hours of driving...

Go pro mount for black tip

I suppose that would be the female side. It's those ledges that receive the base mount attached to the camera. He said that when he test printed it, the ledges that extend out seemed a bit brittle. I don't know much about 3D printing, so maybe the material could make a difference?

Go pro mount for black tip

Just something to consider...a friend of mine prints some base mounts for GoPros. I asked him why he didn't also 3D print the GoPro mount that you post in pic 2. He said that in his experience he didn't trust the structural integrity of the "ledges" and worried that they would break.

    Copperhead Bite Me !!!

Yep, "Herpers" is a term! It's actually a good question and your thought on the matter is reasonable. However, none of my snake bites ever resulted in any adverse reactions, and likewise, I don't know of any of my herper friends who have either. I suspect it might be the fact that snakes...

    Copperhead Bite Me !!!

@Trilobite, whoops, I missed the part about western VA. @The Chairman, no need to be snarky. I appreciate that you can tell the difference, most people can't, particularly for juveniles. As I said, copperheads don't "commonly swim in open water." So cool observation you made.

    Copperhead Bite Me !!!

It may be the "peninsula effect." This is not well understood, but there seems a pattern where species diversity decreases farther down a peninsula. In Florida, there are several reptile and amphibian species that are common in Ga, but don't make it to the tip of Florida. I agree though, it...

    Copperhead Bite Me !!!

Much more likely to be juvenile water snakes or cottonmouths. Copperheads don't commonly swim in open water.

Yes, it was to point out that the Copperhead range doesn't come anywhere close to Port St. Lucie.

    Interesting Cephalopod Chromatophore Transformation

Pretty cool! I've watched squid do this. Males will often do it while courting a female. By only changing color on one side, they can signal to females while not alerting males on their other side as to what they are doing.

Question Is AOW a waste of time?

Economically challenged and tech diving don't belong in the same sentence. Getting to MOD3/Full cave is stupid expensive. It takes time, equipment, and training. In between training, it requires just doing tech dives and gaining experience. Even basic tech dives aren't cheap.
