Selecting the Best BCD for Me

I's suggest one of two options: A.) Back plate & wing - highly customizable and can be fairly budget friendly depending on what you get. If you jump into something like a Halcyon ($$$) you'll be spending quite a bit of coin. Many many options out there for going this route and you can pick...

    Hollis F1 measurements: need help

As much as I hate to recommend taking business away from a LDS, Amazon Prime might be a good option since it's free shipping and pretty hassle-free on returns should they not work out.

    Hollis F1 measurements: need help

I'm a US 10.5 shoe and wear regulars with both 5mm booties and with my DUI drysuit (built-in boots) and have no issues. YMMV

    Username Change Requests

It was actually the name of the Jeep I used to own. Now that I'm no longer a "Jeep guy" it sort of doesn't fit. But I'm open to suggestions.....

    I finally did it

Not hand painted but stencils and Rustoleum rattle can. Then coated with satin clear polyurethane. Looks much better with the attachments and coms unit installed.

    Hello and Thanks!

Welcome to the deep end of the pool! Enjoy your stay and don't touch the bottom!

    I finally did it

Hey purple's my favorite color! So props on that! But wouldn't really go with my urban (gray) camo and yellow Halcyon and newly painted to match ffm.

    I finally did it

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago but with a custom cut Yukon II. If it turns out I do a lot of cold water diving in the near future I may upgrade if I need it. But for a first dry suit I think I did okay.

Classes to be a great well rounded diver?

Have to agree with what Zef said above. Classes are great and all and the knowledge base is there, but without real world experience to draw from they don't really mean much. Dive, dive, dive and figure out the areas you feel you could use some improvement in and go from there. There are two...

    Mask leaks

I tend to get these a bit too, especially this past weekend. I don't typically dive with a 2nd stage in my mouth (I'm usually diving full face) but I find that when I do, after I put my mask on if I pull/roll my upper lip down some, it helps resolve any leaking issues I might have. It doesn't...

    bcd

Definitely check with the local Public Safety dive team to see what they're diving and then go from there. No offense but I wouldn't pay any attention to the recommendation of the ScubaPro Hydros if you're looking to do public safety diving. Not to say it's bad gear, as I know several people...

    fin weight options- advice please

Have you considered the F1 LT? From the Hollis website: F1 - 3.85lb/1.75kg F1LT - 3.46lbs/1.57kg Not a huge different, but at least a little at roughly .35kg for the pair.

    Critique my trim

I understand your concern with his leg/feet position but (at least in the first pic) his feet look to be in line with the top of his head. I'm not sure foot position would really matter too much in a sensitive overhead environment, as you could always hug closer to the floor than the ceiling...

    5mm suit?

I recently started diving a SEAC Komoda 5mm and man that thing is awesome! Made with very stretchy (and quite comfortable for a wetsuit) Yamamoto rubber and has rubber seals on the wrists and ankles to lock in water. I dive it and a Sharkskin with a 5mm Aqualock hood down to 50F and manage to...

Currently open DFW area dive sites

I'll be out Saturday DMing a Rescue class, finishing my ffm cert, and hobnobbing with some local GUE guys that are getting together with our shopfor demos, fun dives, etc. Should be a good day!

Full Face Specialty - worth it?

Just as an update, to show that interest in FFMs is rising, a couple weeks back, my LDS did an "end of summer" thing where we had gear demos and discover scuba sessions. I forget how many discover scuba sessions we had and couldn't tell you how many people demo'd our Halcyon student BP/Ws but I...

Have you ever used scuba equipment you absolutely hated!

Just FYI....you DO know of course that Zeagle makes a split crotch strap that should attach to the stiletto right? I have one on my Brigade and it works wonders!

Have you ever used scuba equipment you absolutely hated!

Seac Italica mask. it was great and I loved the silicone, but after a year of trying many many times, I got sick of it fogging and gave up. Gave it to my son as a back-up. I think I just don't do well with low volume masks because they sit too close to my face and I apparently generate a lot...
