Excited about vinegar to remove water scale, would like more examples

I know of a guy that used it to clean the carbon off his duty M9-92FS. Problem is he left it in too long, thinking more is better, and stripped all the bluing off his gun. Yikes! Glad I didn't have to explain that one to the brass.

Dive Bags: Pack Like A Pro

For reference, attached is the bag that I use, although not my picture, otherwise the exact deployment bag. If I'm going to a resort, and then doing diving on a dive boat, I'll pack my gear within smaller specific bags (reg bag, BC is in it's own bag [SB Hydros], etc...) and carry those onto...

Dive Bags: Pack Like A Pro

Those famous words "It depends" It depends on the type of traveling you're doing. I used my LBT (military deployment bag company) to carry all of my dive stuff and my clothes when I was driving to a live aboard and heading out from there. It worked great as everything was in one bag...

    Snorkel tube in scuba diving

Honestly, there's valid arguments for and against having it at all times. At the end of the day the decision is up to you on what risk you're comfortable with. I'm a former US Coast Guardsman and have done a few swims in open seas to get to people for SAR cases (wasn't an AST, but was the...

    Dive bags / Transport

I'm looking at more along the lines of driving to the dock and unloading onto a liveaboard where the parking lot is 200+ yards away from the boat, or where the parking lot is 100-200 yards from the shoreline. Not so much the flying aspect. I'm tracking that thread as well for future trips. :)

    Dive bags / Transport

What kinda bags are y'all using to transport your gear? The wife is wanting some kind of roller bag that has pockets for spate gear and has drainage capabilities. I've got some LBT bags from my military days, but they're deployment bags and are a bit on the very large side of the house. The...

Blowing Tank Air on a Regulator

Jump in a bathtub and you've got a Southern Jaquzzi. As for the OP, I've got a QD nozzle that I clip onto the power inflator hose post dive and I can blowdry whatever I want on the way back to shore. The engine noise is louder anyways. If we're anchored up and I want to dry my stuff at the...

Which camera for first scuba camera?

I use a SeaLife Micro 2.0 with Wifi. It's not too high speed or anything, but it takes great pics and has built in filters. Plus it's sealed so no chance of flooding.

    Hydros Pro

You should see the back order log at the shop. They're in high demand and everyone wants them. Our shop ordered 30 or so from what I remember hearing. I'm sure the other shops have ordered the same number or so. It takes time.

    Dive Parka recommendations

I'm looking to get my wife a dive parka for Christmas. Which ones are y'all using, and what are the pros and cons to it? Thanks in advance.

more weight in back trim pockets or dumpable?

Seeing as you should have a dive buddy there to assist in an emergency, you don't want to rocket to the surface. They supply air and lift as well with their bc. A lot of people dive over weighted for some reason.

more weight in back trim pockets or dumpable?

You'll just need to play with the distribution to see what works for you. Personally, I do 40% in my trim pockets and 60% in my dump pouch incase I need to ditch weights. Those proportions work for me. My wife is 50/50 on the distribution.

Any deployed US Navy: w/ Gear?

As others have stated, he's going to need to get Qual'd on his rate and WQSB duties. Depending in his assignment and what rate he wants to go, that is a while 'nother set of quals that he's going to have to learn before A school. If one of my non rates had enough time to dive their three months...
