For Sale Heinrichs Weikamp OSTC Sport

Hi all, up for sale is one of my two Heinrichs-Weikamp OSTC Sport dive computers. There was an old Sport model, but this is the 2019 Sport model, which to me is perhaps the best computer they made: It takes SAFT batteries that last up to 150 hours of dive time (thanks to a low power chip and I...

Sold! Shearwater Teric (brandnew battery & warranty)

Up for sale is a Shearwater Teric in like new condition. I am the original owner and it logged 78 dives, but that includes long days teaching, so it has under 30 dive days. It was just serviced and received a brandnew battery. (and new bezel screws, new chassis O-ring, updated firmware...

    The New Atomic TFX

FWIW: I think the T2X with titanium swivel was neutrally buoyant in salt water when turned upside down so it remains full of air. With brass jam nuts and hoses My T1s are lightly negative, so whatever the net buoyancy of the TFX, I'll be happy with it. :)

    Question JetStream Woes: Need Advice!

The only time this happened to me was when the whole reg froze over between ice dives. I just thawed it and it worked (you can tell I like Jetstreams). Back to your question, Bigbella and Rsingler will chime in with more info, but to help (them) diagnose, let's start with the intermediate...

Regulator opinions welcome for a new diver

Agreed! Can't go wrong with the 3-4 major brands, and avoid the bottom segment (unbalanced) of each brand, as it might be limiting in the future. But also avoid the top segment in each brand, as it can be much pricier than necessary. The middle range within each brand is the bargain buy, hence...

Question Good first rebreather for non-cave diving?

I hope some fellow Scubaboarders can point to instructors in one of your areas. Hard to describe the criteria: Experience is obvious. I am thinking of a serious attitude of hammering safe habits into their students. It's an attitude/culture thing, on top of skills. If you could join an...

Question Good first rebreather for non-cave diving?

Hey, being in marine science as well, I can sympathize. Yes indeed, exploration diving is different from the work done in research or filmmaking in open water at "recreational depths". My best advice is to find a good instructor first and foremost. And plan to do ca. 100 CCR dives before doing...

    Comfo-Byte for Apeks question.

Both sides have a point. As I posted in the compressor forum, great products are made overseas, but I'd like to see rigorous quality control (ideally by a local importer under local jurisdiction) that ensures compliance with our local regulations that are in place for our protection. On the...

    Comfo-Byte for Apeks question.

Didn't know about it, but looks good (and identical to my Apeks) on the photos!

    Comfo-Byte for Apeks question.

Wow, that's brilliant, thanks! Attached are some pics I took a while ago while trying to figure out what to order from Buddhasummer (I might not have all of these anymore). The big bore Apeks mouthpiece in the pics is the RA117137. The clamp on the top is the latest Scubapro quick release...

    Comfo-Byte for Apeks question.

I can see why people worry about the antimicrobial properties, but I think there is no substitute for proper care of the gear. Good rinsing, good drying, and you'll be fine regarding regs. Rebreather counterlungs need disinfectant (Steramine), and dive schools may treat their regs with...
