kidnapping risk in the Sulu Sea

My biggest concern re.not traveling to places that were issued governmental advisories is not the danger of crime but the inability of using my travel insurance. No insurance companies would provide coverage in the areas with travel advisories that stipulate "Do not travel"

    Shore diving

Sorry for the late reply, thank you for the suggestion, one of the reasons we would consider Okinawa, is that my wife is Japanese and my mother in law can no longer come to visit us in Canada but she would in Okinawa🤣. Also Okinawa from December to April is not as hot as in Curacao/Bonair, we...

    Shore diving

Thank you very much MacDuyver, your reply shows a lot of insight and consideration, I saw that in all your past replies, much appreciated. Now it's my wife's turn to work on logistics, she is from Osaka, but she is motivated especially if she gets to spend a couple of weeks at an onsen in Kyushu.

    Shore diving

Hello divers, We are a couple of retirees in our mid 50s running away from the cold Canadian Winters, looking for the ideal place that has some shore diving opportunities. We tried Bonaire, closer to home but way to expensive for long term living, we tried So.Leyte and Siquijor in Philippines...

Snorkeling from shore - trip Anilao - Palawan

Those are the same requirements for us too, we spend 4-5months in the Philippines , scubadiving everyday would be too hard on us, therefore snorkeling is such a pleasant addition, relaxing and refreshing. So.Leyte was the paradise for both scuba and snorkeling, the shore line was full of...

ISO: Volunteering opportunities in the Philippines

It looks like these conservation groups are asking for a substantial amount of money ( not for lodging or food)on top of the free volunteer work. I recently enquired with the Coral reef and rainforest conservation Project out of Negros, they never replied to my requests but spoke with a diver...

    Tacloban to Sogod transfert

I just did that trip two weeks ago, and I too didn't want to pay 5k for a one way trip to P.Burgos. My plan was to take a taxi 300php to the Van Van terminal in Tacloban, from there one can hop in a minivan and go all the way to Maasin, departure every 30 minutes, and it costs around 400php. If...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

From the past experience in 2020, things were so complicated by the different rules imposed by local, state and federal governments , all having there own idea and often conflicting with each other. I see in the news , that officials are still very strict with those who test positive for covid...
