In my response to you, I was referring to your summary of the discussion in the thread. I didn't think you were poo-pooing my dive computer. For the record, I don't care all that much. Had I purchased any other dive computer, and it was on the OP's list, I would have provided my opinion.
And I...
Then what is being said is Cressi engineers are deliberately misleading its customers by not notifying them that they have a decompression stop and instead adding time at the safety stop. I don't disagree that this is designed to provide an additional opportunity to offgas, based on the...
"What you are describing, if imposed by the computer, sounds like a proper deco stop"
Giotto notifies of a deco obligation. #1 in the section you quoted above. I'd highlight it, but I'm on my phone. The computer adds time at the safety stop with no DECO notification. On occasion, you will see a...
She asked for experiences and opinions. No need to take a differing experience personally, Scubadada. Or try to make it personal for someone else.
My original comment stands: Giotto has worked for me, with the limitations I described.
Of course, I was not doing deco dives. The dive profiles, in conjunction with multiple dives across multiple days, produced the extended safety stop. I got to hang with the DM as he completed his extended stop as well. It's concerning that experienced professionals wouldn't consider this.
I've had a Giotto for about 125 recreational dives and with the exception of diving in Cozumel, I've not really experienced limitations. There, I had some 10-15 minute hangs at 15 feet. Overall, it's easy to use and I don't see replacing it in the near future. I think I paid about $150-$200.
...And to hire a DM/guide for a day or two.
Dive buddy hasn't dived in a while - and only has about a dozen dives total, though all across the world (and all depths) when he was in the Air Force - and this will be my first trip to Bonaire so I'd like a guide for the first day or so, to help...
I did my first cold water dive at Hydes. I could see the shock of cold water - akin to a thousand needles stabbing your face below the mask - lead to panic. Were you cold otherwise?
As a newbie (I'm still a newb though, 150 dives in) with about 35 dives, a diver signed up for dives with a group I'd been diving with for a couple of weeks. He was energetic and loud and forceful and talked in a braggadocious manner. I don't recall if he spoke about his experience or what he...

My local shop there, located in Simpson Bay, is open for business and has been for at least a month. I don't know what dive op your ship coordinates with, though.
Only issues I had were peeing during a dive and the effects of ibuprofen which made me a little sleepy. I'm sure that is too much information, but we're all ladies reading this, right? Right?!?!
I bought the a5000 used and meikon housing. I have a long way to go in terms of underwater photography, so it seemed to be a good initial investment as the system offered more advanced capabilities than my skills at the time - and my current skills. I don't regret spending less money at all. I'm...
Would chain maille work if you're diving in waters such as these? Neptunic and sharkarmor are two that I've found.
Earlier this year, I went to hear a shark presentation of a natgeo underwater photographer and it was clear in videos he was wearing chain maille mesh.
When communicating with dive shops, I usually tell them the number of dives I have, the dive environments, and what equipment I will be bringing/need. I let them make their own decision about how to describe my experience level. Beginner/advanced is so relative.
