    Cautious diving in Nusa Lembongan?

I think you're reading more into this than I intended. She is a competent diver. But she's never been diving without me, which means she's never had anyone other than me as her buddy, and she's also risk-averse by nature, so she doesn't like the idea of a random-draw insta-buddy. She's happy...

    Cautious diving in Nusa Lembongan?

My wife will be joining friends on Ceningan Island next to Nusa Lembongan in June. The rest of her group doesn't dive, but she's contemplating adding on a day of diving though is a cautious diver and doesn't like to go deep. She'd be ok going with a group but would want to hire a private dive...

    Tank evaluation help

Yeah, I noticed those green open indicators too after my initial posts. I've never taken off a valve before -- is it as simple as unscrewing by hand (and then peering in with a flashlight)? ---------------- Edit: I answered my own question with this video:

    Tank evaluation help

Sorry for the cross-country confusion on this. Yes, I'm in Canada, but this tank would be purchased in the US exclusively for use in the US. The hydro would be done in Maine. I've never actually dived in Canada, so I did learn a thing or two about Canadian tank regulations, though!

    Tank evaluation help

This is actually for occasional shallow-ish and probably short-ish shore diving in Maine, so the amount of air won't be the limiting factor for dives. There isn't a place close enough to rent tanks, which would be my preference given that I'm probably only going to do one-tank dives about a...

    Tank evaluation help

Thanks James. Based on this it looks like Faber and PST make LP95s. Any way to know which these are?

    Tank evaluation help

I'm looking to pick up a tank or two for some local shore diving, and a local seller has these. I can make out "LP95" so I know that much (I was hoping for a slightly smaller LP tank but these would work). I also know they're well out of hydro, and I've asked if they've been stored pressurized...

New Diver Going (proverbially) Head First

There's no need to plan your advancement before you've even tried this hobby out. Relax, learn your basic skills so you're safe and not a danger to others, and then just go diving. If you want to move beyond recreational limits after you've done some diving and refined your skills, then by all...

Nitrox for shallow water artifact diving??

I doubt the 30 seconds I spent at that extra two feet of depth changed my situation, but if you've put a hard line at 33 feet, then ok. No exercise during the surface interval.

Nitrox for shallow water artifact diving??

Me, maybe... but I was on nitrox. Standard, non-sawtooth dive profiles of a 10am shore dive on 32% for ~45 mins to max of 35 feet followed by a 2pm shore dive on 32% for ~45 mins to max of 30 feet, and I spent little time at those depths so they overstate my nitrogen on-gassing. Ascents (such...

    Non Consecutive day gas packages

On the rates section of AB's website, it says they also have a 12-tank card for $175 ($14.50/tank) that can be shared among divers and -- different from DFB -- doesn't expire. It doesn't say specifically for this card whether there's a nitrox upcharge, but for their other packages AB charges...

    Belize Advice

I've never done a land-based trip in Belize, but I did dive one of the Aggressor boats for a week a couple years ago. The sites we did off Turneffe were mediocre, with the better sites by far off Lighthouse reef, and that's a long trip on a day boat. So I'd certainly look into the two...

    All-inclusive recommendations?

It's my wife's family. Let's just say I'm not opposed to your idea.

    All-inclusive recommendations?

My attempts to guide this group towards a non-all-inclusive are meeting with resistance. Thanks for the input on the all inclusives Curacao has. I'll take a further look, but we may end up going elsewhere to keep the group happy.

    All-inclusive recommendations?

A private chef could be just the ticket. @tkaelin: did your friends have a good experience with their chef, and if so, could you please ask them to pass along the name and info?

    All-inclusive recommendations?

That would be great, but the catch is that this group can't all stay in the same large house without driving each other crazy. Are there condo complexes (for example) where we could rent multiple units and get a private chef? Or some other way people could have their own private space and get...
