    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

Got to dive the BHB last week, just as awesome as I remember. One thing I noticed...the lack of dive flags. I thought by law, you had to use a dive flag in Florida. Saw more than a dozen divers enter/exit without a flag while I was there. Saw several w/o during my dive as well. Probably 75% of...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

I need recs on a dive shop / person that does the "discovery" scuba classes/dives at the BHB. My son & daughter did one 4 or 5 years ago and loved it, but I honestly don't remember who / where I booked, was a nice lady that did a great job, but I just can't remember her name. I'm sure I booked...

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

Thanks for the tips. Quick question on dive flag size. My towable flag is 14" x 16", but looking on Amazon, I see several larger size flags for boats. What size is required? Edit: I found this; The size of the divers-down symbol depends on whether the divers-down warning device is displayed...

    Car keys when shore diving

used a small dry box one time, but somehow it opened...Luckily, I dried out the key fob and it worked. Since then, I leave the key fob in a little nook/crevice on the outside of the car. Kind of where 2 body panels meet. No issues so far, but I try to be careful when I place it there to make...

    Venice shark tooth boat dives

12' ~ 15' depth will vary depending on where you go, but probably 200-400 yds out. Largest I've found is 4.5" and it was from a shore dive. Boat dives I have a few 4" teeth and smaller megs as well as bunches of other assorted smaller teeth. I have been on boat dives where they brought up teeth...

    Venice shark tooth boat dives

I have seen one jet ski out there before and they were freediving for teeth at 12-15'. At that depth, Megs are rare, but small teeth to be found. There are some that do kayak dives as well. I plan on doing kayak dives when I eventually move down there in the next few years. I have dove with...

    Marine Sanctuary Law

So what about the coins that wash up on the beach. I read about those from time to time where somebody finds one on the beach or near the waterline. Are they allowed to keep or does Florida want a share of those too?

Best diving on the gulf side of Florida

If you're interested in fossil & Meg tooth diving, Venice area is the place to go. Aristakat & Aquanutz are two good dive ops there. There are others, but I haven't dove with anyone else there. I think Capt. Jamie (Aristakat) will also do other types of dive trips upon request. my .02 worth :)

Venice beach Florida Boat diving spot

no specific GPS numbers, but I've dove the area a lot. From Venice Beach to Alhambra rd in Venice, go offshore (1/2 mile - 1.5 miles) to depths in the 20' - 30' range and you're in what they call "The Boneyard". Lots of fossils & teeth in that area. You can go further south all the way down to...

One day diving around Cape Coral

I've used Aristakat Charters (Capt. Jamie) & Aquanutz (Capt. Mike). Both good dive ops. There are a few others as well. Both these guys are 6-pack ops.
