    Poseidon Releases Solid State Sensors

I just stopped at the Poseidon booth and spoke with Peter Andersson. There is no requirement to have them calibrated. There is a plan to be prepared to calibrate them if needed, but that is just a contingency

    Poseidon Releases Solid State Sensors

They work great. I have been using them for about 5 years without a single issue. The only drawbacks are the price and the limitation on which units can use them. Hopefully this will improve both of these areas.

    Poseidon Releases Solid State Sensors

Poseidon announced at DEMA that they are releasing their exclusivity on the Solid State Oxygen Sensors (SSOS) which allows any other CCR manufacturers to put SSOSs into their units. Hopefully this will quickly make them options on most CCRs.

    VA Benefits Fraud

These are not new. I used my VA benefits to go through a program in 2014. Luckily the program I went through was legit. We put in the time and met all the requirements, and the price was about what people were paying without using VA benefits. The big catch was that we were required to have...

    Oxygen Sensor Fundamentals

Thanks for the excellent resource. I, for one, can always use a good refresher. For those interested in the solid state sensor and how it is different, here is a good discussion: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=10154117458251705 The discussion of the SSS ends at around 10 minutes.

    My New Toy

RainPilot: I absolutely agree that it is important to tailor the course to meet the needs, the goals, and the previous experience of each student. There is no cookie cutter approach approach that works well with every student. I am a bit intrigued by your comment about the agencies you teach...

    My New Toy

I agree, to a point. Both perspectives have solid arguments. However, we can build those OC skills in the CCR course and in conditions which more closely match the bailout requirement. If a diver is learning OC technical skills specifically to support bailout from CC, they may be learning some...

    My New Toy

The prereqs are here: Tec 40 CCR | PADI Yes, you can start at TEC40 with no previous CCR or deco training. PADI is a supporting member of RESA. PADI is also a founding member of the Rebreather Training Counsel (RTC). While I am not that deep in how these relate, I believe RESA is primarily...

    My New Toy

Your local Poseidon dealer should also have the refillable canisters in stock. Salt Blue, the US distributor for Poseidon, has them.

    My New Toy

There are different opinions on this. I agree with Stuart. I, personally, see no reason to take OC classes if you plan to do your dives on CC. If you plan to do both types of diving, then take both types of classes. If you want to be the best CC diver that you can be, then focus on CC. Just for...

Securing A Rebreather In A Vehicle

The rebreather is an expensive piece of life support equipment. I always take care of them. They ride in the backseat with seat belts firmly secured. My daughter, on the other hand, has already announced that she will put me in the cheapest home she can find as soon as they will take me...

    Which DPV?

Yes! They fixed it. I think they redesigned the drive system and gave me one of the new ones. It has worked perfectly since then. Good luck.

    New to CCR, What agency?

The right instructor is more important than the right agency. Find an instructor you trust and respect, and read everything you can.

    Poseidon refillable canisters

That is correct. However, the Poseidon version is still a way off and may not be available in the near future. In the mean time, Poseidon has approved the use of the Tecme canister and worked with some of the training agencies to allow the use of the Tecme canister to ensure continuity during...

    Poseidon refillable canisters

Here is the latest on the move to refillable sorb canisters in the Poseidon. As announced a few months ago, Poseidon and Molecular have reached the decision to stop producing the prepacked scrubber canisters for the Poseidon VI and Se7en. While the prepacked canisters will continue to be...

    Hollis Prism2 - PADI Tec 60 CCR

Is Hawaii too far? I know it is US, but it is not mainland US and clearly Pacific. Honolulu Scuba Company has a couple instructors (DJ Meacham and Jacob Dodd) who teach TEC60 on the P2. (Technical Diving Services | Honolulu Scuba Company)

    O2 Cell Replacement Time....

At the risk of getting way too far from the original question, I dive the Se7en with the M28 and solid state sensor (SSS). I also dive the Inspo and have an aftermarket (TECME) T-piece to use the M28 and SSS on it as well. I probably have over 200 dives with the SSS between the two rebreathers...

13 year old diver dies - Oahu, Hawaii

DandyDon, Thank you for brining these events to our attention. It is a sad but important service that you provide to the diving community. Hopefully we learn from the stories you find. You have probably saved many lives.
