To touch or not to touch other diver's gear

Don't leave your gear unsecured, blocking other diver's access, or in the way of mooring lines and cleats and other boat equipment and 99.999% of the time no one is gonna touch your stuff.

    Review Diving the Avelo System

Seems overly complicated to integrate it into the same cylinder. Why not have a separate, non-compressible canister of finite volume where you can add or remove water ballast via a pump and/or low pressure inflator hose? Maybe add a piston on a spring to compress it to prevent sloshing.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

It's called Dive Talk not Dive Instruction. Why is everyone looking to them like fallen angels? They enjoy analyzing and critiquing other divers videos. I'm sure they would not mind others critiquing theirs, sans the ugly vitriol on display here.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

I think a large factor in the decision making process was who exactly the DAN person talking was on the other end of the call. If the guys believed the person was just an administrative pencil pusher, they might have become frustrated trying to convey what they believe required urgent action...

Unknown Woody From “Dive Talk” DCS and Medical Journey

Maybe we have (or had) this overly optimistic belief that DAN is like an elite delta force team ready to spring into action to evacuate the injured or sick at the drop of a hat. The reality and the shear logistics of doing that outside the US is just not feasible at that level.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

Screenshot of DANs home page... Kinda gives you the impression that you are going to get immediately whisked away for medical treatment in an emergency, doesn't it? It's the reason I've had Dan over the years. Not because I needed health insurance. Maybe it's fair to say they will reimburse...

DSMB is flaccid upon deployment. Looking for tips.

See how many breaths it takes to blow it up fully on land. Then do the math for 15 feet to find out if you can do it on one long breath. Then go online to buy a smaller smb cause you now know your 6ft monster woukd need it's own Al80 cylinder to fully inflate.

    Does constipation increase buoyancy?

S*^t you not (pun intended), but was diving in turks last week and this was on my mind as I hadn't gone in literally days but was afraid to take a laxative for fear of having to go while on the boat to and from the dive site or god forbid, during the dive. By the fifth day, I gave in to ducolax...

    Why the wait to fly?

Given the speeds required to sustain high altitude flight, I would think that At 10000' your soda explodes yet commercial flights are pressurized to about 8000' and soda cans are routinely opened without incident. Hmmm....

    Why the wait to fly?

Not true. Okay, given a catastrophic yes. The FAA classifies three levels of decompression: https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_61-107B_CHG_1_FAA.pdf (3) Types of Decompression. (a) Explosive Decompression. A change in cabin pressure faster than the lungs can...

WRECK OF THE CRISTOBAL COLON (Bermuda)

Love your videos in the LI sound where i sail but do NOT envy the divers cleaning my hull in Manhasset bay. Ick.

    Why the wait to fly?

It's not the pressurization per se that is required on any particular flight, it's the the partial pressure of oxygen available. FAA requirements are : Sea Level to 12,500' - No oxygen required. 12,501' to 14,000' - Required by the required crew if over 30 minutes at this altitude. 14,001' to...

    Why the wait to fly?

Not sure if it was covered above but as a pilot, I can say that the FAA specifies in the AIM 8-1-2-d: Decompression Sickness After Scuba Diving. A pilot or passenger who intends to fly after scuba diving should allow the body sufficient time to rid itself of excess nitrogen absorbed during...
