    Best for larger stuff ??

 I've posted the same kind of thing a few times... and got the same kind of responses, especially from Doc Adelman / Roatan Man. There aren't great answers in the Bahamas/Carib/C. America... I've tried most of the places mentioned above, except Grenada... my general best recommendations...

Fabulous Wall Trip in San Salvador, Bahamas

Hmmm... just checked out RR's website regarding the improvements. Maybe maybe. Anybody ever see any big animals *other* than hammers there? I seached here and checked Undercurrents and didn;t see any references, but I've gotta believe that given the location there are other big guys swimming by.

Aruba. Or, if you want just a guaranteed great relaxed trip, try the BVIs.

Fabulous Wall Trip in San Salvador, Bahamas

I'm poking around for a quick trip, and was considering San Sal again. Gotta say, the Riding Rock basically sucks as a hotel. My wife and I visited Club Med last time we were there, and [Amusing anecdote: One afternoon, we walked over to the Club Med on the road. FRICKIN HOT. We decided to...

    Gladden Spit

I thought Robert's Grove in Placencia had set up one of the fishermen's shacks nearby the Spit as a primitive divers hotel...

    Broke in Bonaire?

Regarding airfare: Check faircompare.com... which is TOTALLY the coolest way scan for good airfares (I don;t know if it's always the cheapest, but it's pretty dang cheap!) I'm seeing a RT from NYC to Bonaire for $259. :)

    Big animals in November

(I got to this thread by searching for DocVikingo and pelagics... :D ) How about October? As in, oh, next week? Just freed up some time, and I'm looking for some big stuff without a difficult or long trip from NYC... Caribbean and the Gulf being easiest, followed by South America and the...

    Abacos vs. Provo?

When specifically will you be going? Thre are definite seasonality issues to consider up and down the Bahamas and the TCIs.

Shark diving options? Other places than the Bahamas?

The southern end of Bimini has the most easily accessible wild shark encounters in the Bahamas... there is a shark research station there. No rodeos or chumsicles for me, thank you very much!! :)

    New Guy Arrives.....seeking Tobago info

Hmmm... not sure, but I think this is a slightly weird time of the year in Tobago (I've only been there in the spring). The water's more clear, due to less run-off from the Orinoco, but there's some kind of interaction due to heat/cold between the Atlantic and the Carib. Email ahead, and get...

    San Salvador and Riding Rock

Whale sharks in San Sal? I remember seeing a pic of one in the bar, and being told it was like a once-a-year thing. And, btw, just to reply: I saw RRI in disrepair over seven years ago... I am more than happy to hear more recent reports that it is in good shape.

    Dominican Republic?

Check this thread: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=106991 Regarding the different areas to stay, there are four big resort communities... can't comment, not really my thing. I did really like the north coast between Sosua and Cabarete, but even so, if you go, learn the mantra...

    Dominica

The word I've gotten from a photo bug here in NYC who I respect is that Dominica has perhaps the best bio-diversity at the macro level of any island in the Carib. There is also some great pelagic activity at certain times of the year, but it's a bit too far out into the deep blue for the dive...

    BARBADOS TRIP REPORT...PART 2...long sucka !!

For anybody interested, Tobagoman and I and our wives are going to be in Barbados from 12/3-10... we'd love to get another SB couple to join us, so we can monopolize a boat! Rich, thanks for the great trip report!

    Grand Turk Hotels

Island House is great for a B&B... don;t worry about getting around, everything is pretty close. Closer to the [few] restaurants and bars, and the dive shops, another smallish place is the Salt Raker Inn; ask Erika for the second room that I (Richard Podos) stayed in. Osprey is more of a hotel...

    Diving From Placencia Belize

Robert's Grove is one of my favorite places in the Caribbean, not just Belize! That's partially cause he and his wife are New Yorkers too, and try to deliver to that standard of quality (up to and including serving pastrami Reuben sandwiches!!). One or both of them are pretty much always there...
