I live about 10 miles from South Riding, so I am in same boat they are. If they don't mind cold weather there are plenty of quarry dates at Lake Phoenix in VA, I generally dive North Carolina but there aren't many boats running usually from November to late March.
What surgical options are there for PPPD? My wife so far has tried VRT, multiple prescription options, even tai chi has helped her with balance. But we haven't been presented with surgical options yet.
My wife suffers from PPPD, it's not common at all from what I have seen. I can't imagine my wife ever being able to dive in her normal state even if she was interested. Just my two cents from personal experience with a non-diving spouse, I am not a doctor. I don't mean to sound negative...
I have the same scooter shown in the pic and I use it under certain circumstances as it is shown in the video above, but generally when just using the scooter to travel I just hold the handle and let the scooter pull me by the tow line attached to crotch strap D-ring.
I use the scooter on the...
Welcome from not too far from you - I'm right by Dulles Airport.
It was mentioned already but check out Submerged in Rockville for anything you need. There are much closer dive shops to Alexandria, but none of them hold a candle to Submerged as far as in stock gear selection, training...
I'm 5'7", narrow shoulders. I have the second generation Si-Tech neck ring, I think it was called Quick-Neck? My straps sit partially on it. Doesn't affect in water feel in my opinion. Might slightly limit mobility on land - I THINK it makes it harder for me to reach over shoulder to zip...
Welcome to SB, I'm a smidge southwest of you by Dulles Airport. Most of my diving is in North Carolina. Depending on where you are between DC and Baltimore, you likely have an amazing dive shop close to you - Submerged, Inc. in Rockville.
I glue pockets on my wetsuits, I prefer that over shorts. I use Aquaseal Seal Cement. Look into the size of the pockets, the standard size XS scuba ones I have on one wetsuit are big enough for an SMB/spool. The biggest pockets I have found that I have waiting to be glued on my other suit...
As someone else previously mentioned in this thread - I've been on several tooth diving boats that ban the use of GPS devices.
These sites are certain spots on the ledge, not a wreck, so a little different.
WB Diving is the most friendly towards CCRs. The two captains of the boat both dive CCR. Some of the other charters openly and vocally prefer not to take CCR divers. If they are with OC divers they’ll require them to match the profile.
Not much to see except rubble piles on the Meg ledges. Dig through it looking for teeth. Now the wrecks in NC are full of wildlife, definitely worth seeing.
Fair warning - its addictive. Here's a thread from a few years ago that shows what you can expect to find.

A good portion of my diving (more than my wallet likes...) is diving for meg teeth. I haven't done the Cooper River yet, I do my tooth diving off the coast of Wilmington. The dives are shorter as the depth is ~100 FSW but the viz is better and you don't have to worry about the alligators...
My personal favorite site off of Morehead City is the Aeolus. My second favorite would likely be the Papoose. The U-352 is one worth diving. Best bet for any of those would be Olympus Dive Center.
