I've proven it to myself when I started diving before I was relaxed I would burn through a 108lp in less then 45 minutes at 30ft after I started slowing my breathing and being relaxed the same dive same conditions same temps my tank would last me over 1hr and ten minutes
I would suggest no camera till about your 50th dive and only once your breathing is under control
Try humming when you exhale when inhaling do it slowly count five Mississippi's and 5 when you exhale so this on the surface at home anytime till it becomes natural

But honestly a wetsuit isn't hard to customize a bit of neoprene cement and learning how to blind stitch I all you need I took in my neck seal with this method use nylon thread for blind stitch
I have double l.p. 108s and my dive shop fills them an additional 10% my tanks are always at about 3200 3400 never had a problem
I'm 5'8" 220lbs I can lug those suckers around np the rig weighs 130lbs no extra lead needed I honestly don't notice any drag
My bare 7mm farmer John was 850 my cold water hood was 80 my 5mm Kevlar coated dive gloves were 85 my 5mm cold water booties were about 100
