Should we put fork in DSS?

Actually, this thread started as an inquiry as to whether DSS was coming back. I was hoping they were. I should point out that I am very happy with my DSS wing. It works great. The quality is excellent. The fact that DSS is out of business, after having promised to restart, is...

Should we put fork in DSS?

Yes, I recall this very claim.

Should we put fork in DSS?

Anytime. By all accounts, Tobin is out of business, and is therefore not offering any "after sales service." Or did you miss that, too? Because that is the whole point. You've called me entitled. Of course I never felt I was entitled to service in perpetuity. But on the other hand...

Should we put fork in DSS?

Are your hemorrhoids flaring today? Such hostility from behind a keyboard. First of all, if you had read the post, there is nothing wrong with my wing, but thanks so much anyway for your "tip." My point was not about "my gear", which is just fine, but was about DSS and their practices. I...

Should we put fork in DSS?

I'm not looking for sympathy. I am however entitled to my opinions regarding Tobin and DSS, whether they are shared by others or not.

Should we put fork in DSS?

Curious--How would I remove the outer shell to perform this repair?

Should we put fork in DSS?

Because I expect more out a vendor than to take a powder after I make a purchase. DSS had promised quick wing repairs. This was a sellling point. Now I have been told that if my wing gets a hole in it, i might as well throw it out. Tobin has gone from poor customer relations, to no...

Have you reached a Diving "Plateau. "

For sure this originated in training, as others have noted. But this would happen regularly when somebody saw an urchin, or anemone or whatever. Looking back on those early years is like looking back on one's infancy. There is a tactile obsession: grab this, poke that, all while kneeling...

Have you reached a Diving "Plateau. "

I should be more clear--it was not doing a frog kick that drew me to dive, or keeps me going. My point was that there are better ways to access the ocean. Like Tincup and his golfswing ("perfection unobtainable") we can always do better at what we do. But for me the draw has always been the...

Have you reached a Diving "Plateau. "

I certified in 1992 through Sports Chalet. I remember over a few years my excitement at diving changed to...well, boredom. I was diving just as I was taught--jump in, swim around, come up with 500 psi. My instructors knew little more than I did. Because I had nothing to work on, it became...

weight belt with a wing setup ... help for newbie

The Marseilles buckle is spring loaded. With one hand you can pop it open and release it.

weight belt with a wing setup ... help for newbie

I beg to differ. Check out the Mako Rubber belt with the Marseilles buckle. Very comfortable, quick and easy to dump one handed if necessary. Less cumbersome than pockets IMO.

Should we put fork in DSS?

I don't feel so sanguine as this. Had I known he was going out of business after claiming he was only moving, no way I would have bought my plate and wing from him.

Thoughts on how many years we should expect our dive computers to function properly.

U.S. Diver's Monitor 1 purchased in 1992. Got the battery changed a few years back, and it is still going strong.

    Peeing Etiquette

I submit that any continent adult who thinks it is okay to pee on deck like this must be deficient in numerous other aspects of their life.

Got some rinse water in first stage

Cap is standard issue SP. Reg was purchased a year ago. Cap does not have insert and appears to be in perfect condition. When I do my soak, I now plan to ensure that my first stage does not get too deep in tub. Perhaps this caused the leak. Again, this is unprecedented. Thank you.

Got some rinse water in first stage

Actually I used my shirt tail to carefully dry any seawater out of the cap. So the water around the orifice may have come in through the cap, or possibly through the second stages. Not sure--this is a first.

Got some rinse water in first stage

Okay, Couv, I did the above. No signs of water or issues, at least to my untrained eye. Checked IP and it held 138-140 for about ten minutes. Let me know if that time is adequate. Thanks.

Thank you, Couv. Yes, it is something like the one on the left.
