    Drysuit recommendations for Florida?

Certainly. I wear one soon as it reaches the mid 70s. Drysuits up in the springs is basically the norm.

    PLBs Can Save Your Life

Even more odd given that there is no command center in TX to begin with. The US command center is right outside Wash DC. I think it's just poor reporting, ha!

Nautilus Life Line from a divers and Captains view

Yup, that means AIS is broadcast to everyone but DSC VHF is not. The FCC Approval request letter has a clearer description. Says DSC only transmits to user's host boat. The new version does not require an MMSI and broadcasting without one would be illegal. This is why current voice VHF DSC...

Nautilus Life Line from a divers and Captains view

For the new ones, from what I have seen in the documents, only the AIS MOB is broadcast. It's essentially a recreational version of AIS-SART. The DSC VHF on ch 70 is only sent to the number that you have preprogrammed into it, which needs to be reprogrammed according to what vessel you are on...

Nautilus Life Line from a divers and Captains view

The only problem with this demonstration is that the operators boat has an AIS that can receive alerts. I have never seen a dive boat that has an AIS onboard, other than a larger livaboard. DSC VHF is much more common among dive boats, but of course you would have to find out what the boats...

If a boat did do that, that would be...

Saw a new dive charter today.

Probably because Miss Conduct is a 6 pack and they are, by law, not allowed to take more than 6 people.

DIR- Generic Primary light with canister or handheld

I would not guess on this, if you guess wrong and the instructor only wants corded lights, that will be an expensive mistake.

    Backup regulators on dive trips?

My backup regulator is a rental. Although, I would consider taking one if rentals were not available.
