    Solo with no BCD?

Amazed this thread is still going. In the end I didn't dive solo with my drysuit alone as I felt I was insufficiently experienced. Either way I appreciate all the comments and debate on this thread from which I've learned a lot. Many thanks!

    Solo with no BCD?

I'm in the Isle of Scilly, UK and I normally solo dive with a drysuit and a BCD. Solo I never go below 10m. It's just my personal self imposed limit. Anyway, my BCD has developed a leak and I wont use it until repairs or replaced. In the mean time, would anyone here with more experience than me...

Repair of chafe on my BCD?

There is deffo air coming out of the points I highlighted. I inflated it and put soap water in the area of suspicion and there bubbles exactly in the place on the photo. You had hear it hissing out. Looses pressure fairly quickly. Underwater it would be a fair stream of bubbles I'm sure. I...

Repair of chafe on my BCD?

Hi... No it doesn't appear to be removable. It is a Sub Aqua Elite Plus. From 2003. It's really old but looks like new only had about 50 dives on it. I've always rinsed it through inside and out and hasn't got any UV damage or fading. It it possible. Not sure how I'd really determine if that...

Repair of chafe on my BCD?

Hi all... I have noticed that my BCD wasn't holding air. I then found some tiny chafe holes where there is some webbing that is stitched in place to hold the waist band on. I have no idea how this happened to be fair. What are the recommendations for repair? See pics please.

    BCD Repair Recomendations UK?

Hello. Does anyone have a recommendation for a person to do BCD repairs in the UK? I have an old but very good and well cared for BCD. Its always been fine but recently didn't hold its air. I noticed that some chafe where the wait band is held in by some strong webbing had caused some tiny...

    Shallow diving without a BCD?

I have been diving for some time and hold my Padi Rescue Diver qualification. I scrub the hull of my boat with with full diving gear normally but its a faff as I get my BCD wet with salt water and I then have to do a full rinse job afterwards. I recently bought a tank harness / frame with...

    Nitrogen... at what depth?

Thanks for this. I suppose one of the concluding quote says it all... "While it is possible that some diving could be completed without impact, the absolute risk of any given exposure cannot be determined from the available data."

    Nitrogen... at what depth?

If our basic safety stops are say between 4-6m then does that mean anywhere from 1-6mm there is a net loss of nitrogen? I'm asking relation to "don't dive when pregnant rule". I know that is a debatable subject and many people do but the scientific reason is that nitrogen in the blood has...

    Cíes Islands, Galicia, Spain

Thanks. We got permission from their website. It is iatlanticas.es. The permission is automatic so it is more of a notification than permission. We just went in shallow water to about 10m around some rocks. It wasn't bad but locals told us that the marine life isn't as good as it should be as...

    Cíes Islands, Galicia, Spain

We've been told the Cíes Islands off Galicia are meant to be good for diving. We're in a boat traveling down the coast and have diving gear so does anyone know anything of the diving here and the sites?

Getting to the island mid December?

Many thanks. Appreciated. I think you're right about roads from the south. A boat from Livingston in Guatemala might be an option perhaps. Strangely in Guatemala it is dry season but over in Belize some dive guides say it is wet season in Belize.

Getting to the island mid December?

We're in Gutemala at the moment and intended to overland to San Pedro Sula and then fly to one of the Bay Islands so dive. However getting to SPS at the moment is tricky with the unrest and road blocks. I have a few q's: 1. How might we get there? 2. Of the two islands is one better than the...

Perforated Eardrum - how long till dive?

I perforated my eardrum around 3 weeks ago diving. It was a small perforation and it healed closed in approx 2 weeks when the tinittus stopped and I can now equalise. So it has healed but maybe still weak. How long would someone wait until they can dive again? Obviously this is subjective but...

    Hood neck size?

I was given a nice Xcel hood for my birthday and it goes right down inside my drysuit. I have not used a hood with a drysuit before so unsure of the fitting. When I put the hood on it is fairly loose around the neck so when I put the drysuit over the top and fold the neoprene neck seal in, then...
