Police find body while looking for diver who went missing at Manuka Beach
The Police National Dive Squad has recovered a body during the search for a man who went missing while snorkelling for crayfish at Manuka Beach, Domett, in north Canterbury.
At 2pm on Monday, a 52-year-old local man...
Can I jump into this thread please? I have 3 nights in Honolulu in August (on my way to Bikini.. woohoo) and am keen to do some diving. I've been a bit burned previously (10 years ago!) that I booked a dive in Honolulu and got put with a group of Try-Divers. I've been in touch with one shop and...
I did a trip on the Bilikiki on Nov - Dec. It was fantastic so enjoy. I didn't find a lot to do in HOniara - there are some WW2 tours. I had hoped to dive the Bonegi Wreck but an earthquake hit(!) ALl I wll add was that my flights changed multiple times to and from Honiara so I kept losing and...
Thanks :) 50 minute dives... very short! Do you have to dive it as guided dives or can you do your own thing (within 50 minutes...) I take it from your comment it is still worth doing, even with the short dive times :)
I'm keen to dive the HMAS Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast. The local dive shops' websites say that dives are limited to 50 minutes. That seems rather short for a big boat. I'm tec / advanced wreck trained.. and would prefer to do one long dive than 2 short ones... Any ideas if this is feasible...
I dive in my drysuit all year round in NZ :) We've also been told to anticipate our borders being closed for this year.. except for possibly Pacific neighbours (and currently Oz). Good luck
Lots of diving fatalities in NZ because of (IMHO):
- close proximity to water - it's easy to go diving
- potentially challenging conditions - it's not tropical diving
- kiwi 'she'll be right' attitude
Both SSRIs and SNRIs do lower seizure threshold. I have not seent this apply in real life - more of a theoretical risk.
150mg od of venlafaxine is not a high dose. If the venlafaxine works, stay on it and don't push your limits in terms of MOD.
I would imagine you'd be a far greater risk diving...
THis is my concern. I used 'google translate' on this article, but think I got the general gist of it. My understanding is that people can have significant changes on Chest CT from COVID without significant COVID symtpoms. I have heard in Europe, Canada, patients being screened pre-operatively...
Hi
I've posted here before about recurrent otitis externa and got some helpful ideas...
However, am just back from a diving holiday with a rip-roaring otitis externa. I'm not using vosol as a preventor currently as it irritates my ears. I do have the 'ear dryer' and use that. I also use almond...
I've been struggling with recurrent otitis externa post tropical diving and am after any suggestions for prevention.
I used to get otitis externa prior to diving / when I wasn't diving so guess I am a little prone to it.
I am a bit atopic and often have 'itchy' ears when my hayfever is bad.

I dived with Jay on a liveaboard last year. He was good value and certainly an interesting bloke to talk to and I don't think I appreciated the extent of what he's achieved. My overriding memory was that he was something to aspire to in terms of jumping on a plane and diving on a liveaboard in...
