Info Deeply Safe Labs: A website for dive computer testing

The algorithm compartment half-times might be part of it but I suspect the differences in how the calculation the allowable pressures are more significant. I understand the Bühlmann M value calculation. Are you aware of the DSAT equivalent?

Info Deeply Safe Labs: A website for dive computer testing

This is an interesting observation of the Bühlmann theory. And I have verified it to be correct (at least to four repetitive dives with 75min surface intervals) using Subsurface. As an aside, using a public algorithm is great because what it does can be tested and used for planning without...

Info Deeply Safe Labs: A website for dive computer testing

Firstly, I do believe a comparison of different dive computers, from different manufacturers, produced across different years/decades is useful. Particularly looking at repetitive dives, where differences in algorithms become most pronounced. Thank you! Any computer or software claiming to use...

Trip Report Moalboal: Savedra Dive Centre

I dived with Savedra in December (2023) and thought they were a great operation. Very well set up and friendly and helpful staff. Sardines are definitely there, Pescador island has enough fish to justify its name, and we saw several turtles on every dive. I didn’t have the pleasure of diving...

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

I repeated the leak test on the end of the zip this morning and the repair is holding pressure. I agree reinforcing it is a good idea. I’ll use a short piece of latex tape. Not a huge fan of neoprene.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

Thanks for the glimmer of hope. I’ve used a bit of aquaseal after cleaning with acetone. I will test it again tomorrow or the weekend. The aquaseal was runny enough as it was so didn’t thin it further.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

I did a leak test with a spray bottle - faster than a bath tub, and effective if you know where you’re looking. Unfortunately it shows it’s leaking in the split on the inside at the end of the zip. Here’s a screenshot from the video I took. Looks like I’m up for a new zip. Given how much it’s...

Thanks for advice. I’ll give this a shot when I get a chance.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

It’s an Otter suit and has served me well for the past 10 or so years. The glue works even if it’s ugly on the inside.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

Here it is inside out, with the zip open and closed. There is a small split in the material directly inline with the end of the zip. Most visible in the photos with the zip open. Not sure it that’s normal or not. Also a small crack exposing white threads to the side (most visible in the photo...

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

The brown is the adhesive (I guess you knew this), with the manufacturer erring on the side of too much rather than too little. I don’t think it’s pulled away but I didn’t inspect it earlier so can’t say for sure.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

After a couple of dives yesterday my right leg was wet. I’m wondering if the culprit could be these threads at the end of the drysuit zip. It’s a plastic zip (YKK I think) on an Otter suit. End of the zip is at my right hip, and after the dive I felt dripping down the right leg. Left leg...

Single diver in Melbourne, options for Leafy Sea Dragons

In that case go for it! Sorry I can’t join you. Those piers are all down the mornington peninsula so no reason you can’t go on a pier crawl and hit 2-3 in a day. If you are prepared for poor vis and perhaps a bit of surge they are all ok to dive Ed: I should add condions are probably good at...

Single diver in Melbourne, options for Leafy Sea Dragons

Flinders Pier is undoubtedly the best spot to find weedies normally. Unfortunately, we’ve had southerly winds, with more forecast, which is not great news for diving Flinders as there’s not much shelter from Bass Strait. The weedies will still be there, perhaps hiding in seagrass, but the vis is...

    Subsurface & Shearwater Perdix AI

The Petrel 2 (my computer) supports both BLE and old-fashioned Bluetooth. Both work for me with Subsurface. Earlier Shearwaters were old-Bluetooth only, more recent ones BLE-only.
