Actually I was kind of surprised to see Scuba Lawyer (Mark) posting anything in public. All of the Sea Hunt Forever events have been kept private with participation only by invitation. Mark has asked us all to keep it private and not to contact the Florida officials independently for reasons of...
Well I think that's about it for me. I posted a link to the actual manual, which Iain has shown he either doesn't know how to read or is deliberately misrepresenting it. I suggest you read it yourself. Good bye and good luck.
The Coltri Icon MCH-6 manual says...
1. CHECK the oil every 5 hours.
2. CHANGE the oil every 50 hours or annually.
50 hours at about 3 fills per hour is about 150 fills per oil change. The sump holds .6 liters of oil. Filtertechs sells oil for $26 per quart... Which translates to about $16...
Coltri has a free download of the MCH-6 Icon operating manual in PDF format. It's 56 pages long with photo illustrations, charts, maintenance, and specs. Anyone who has not owned nor operated an actual MCH-6 compressor can learn a lot from this manual. Here's a link to all of the Coltri...
Hey Rob, thanks for the tip on the Lawrence Factor chart. I found it under "Heat Wave" on the LF website. And I remembered that Alkin sent me an email that the 50 hours was based on 20 degrees C... Which is 68 degrees F. From the chart, if I'm running my Alkin in 80 degree F temps, multiply the...
Okay... to continue... The conclusion to this argument is that the Alkin removes MORE moisture and oil vapor before it gets to the filter media. And this makes the filter media last longer. Which also would explain why the Bauer humidity/temperature tables probably don't apply to the Alkin...
My understanding of Hopcalite in the filtration media is that it merely converts Carbon MONoxide to Carbon DIoxide... And it's capacity for doing this is not big. That is, it only works for trace amounts of CO that might be generated by the compressor itself. With a gas powered compressor, you...
"...The vast majority think you are making a mistake..." I have to laugh at this. Because I too, was fooled at first by what seemed like "expert" knowledge from a few trolls on this board. Yes they know enough to sound like they know what they're talking about. But people who actually own and...
I just called Honda USA to ask about this and the person I talked to could not find any reference to this prohibition. He recommended I call my local local dealer because the dealer would be most likely to receive any corporate restrictions on whatever machines they can put a Honda engine on...
Well there goes the neighborhood. When Ian and T-Bone show up all semblance of a reasonable conversation goes out the door. Frankly I think the best approach is to just skip over them and move on.
I think you should distinguish what you specifically mean by "inadequate". Because the MCH6 pumps EN 12021 grade "breathing air" using the PMV, condenser, and standard 3-part filters. So it's entirely adequate for giving you good quality air.
If your main complaint is that you have to change...
Here's a video of my 1980's Aerotecnica Coltri MCH-6 compressor. This little bugger needed me to re-build the internals of the moisture condenser and put new diaphragm/fuel pump into the Briggs and Stratton engine. Aside from other cleanup and adding a PMV, it was in excellent running condition...
You can go to the Coltri website and download the parts manuals to compare the parts numbers and see if they are the same. I have a 1980 MCH6 and it fits the pre-pack filters from
Filtertechs and they fit and function perfectly. But when I ordered Coltri brand MCH6 filters they fit way too tight...
Pardon me if my reply repeats or misses what someone else contributed. I got a notice of this thread this morning, I'm at work, and I haven't got time to read through all of the entries.
While I am still using and still impressed with my "Cheap Chinese Filter System", I can't say the same for...
One thing that has bothered me ever since I got my RIX SA3 is the floppy top section of the belt. No matter how tight I get the belt, the top of the belt still flops, causing vibration and noise. I figure it's because the top section is pushing to the compressor pulley and that creates slack...
