    Swagelock QC6 source

This is the Swagelok pipe fitting? I've always wondered about them from a durability/banging around perspective. I suppose it's on par with an NPT fitting?

And you still need at least one adapter. So $100 + 2x adapters or $200 + 1x adapter.

$200/pair feels steep. At that price I'd like it to come out of the box with a 3/8" female so the BOV connection doesn't need yet-another-adapter. I do NPT + Adapter already.

Ordered QC6 fittings with 3/8 or 9/16? Or ordered ¼” NPT and wrenched an adapter on it? Getting ¼” NPT direct from Swagelok was substantially faster and easier to deal with than most scuba places I looked for fittings. It also allowed me to build my own connections as needed. The advantage I...

What NPT size do you order? I was going to ask them to tap/thread them directly, not a plain end. I think they offer “plain” as a stainless tube fitting which you can put any Swagelok connector on. Though I don’t know if they have tube to 3/8 or 9/16. While we’re on the topic of fittings and...

That’s the nominal setup I have. But I also adapted a few female QC6s onto some Omni splitters. Because reasons. Female side QCs should always have a shutoff. Male side you want the red sleeve (“DESO” for double end shutoff). Has no one ordered specific fittings from Swagelok before? They all...

NPT fittings are stupid, but it’s foolproof. I think machined native fittings are great but the NPT + adapter version give you more flexibility to setup QCs as you need without having to buy specific fittings for each.

That seems steep. Are these the DESO with a female connecting to a supply side LP hose at 3/8” and male connecting to a feed side LP 9/16”?

Wishlist: how can rebreathers be improved to make them even safer ?

I don't think open circuit is so safe that I'd only dive a single tank. Why would I dive a rebreather with no alternative system?

Aluminum vs. Carbon Fiber cave shield for JJ CCR

The SF2 weighs like 25lbs stripped, so there's a weight advantage in that. :clapping:

Aluminum vs. Carbon Fiber cave shield for JJ CCR

How did the cave shield get lost? I'd argue that carbon fiber is not the best material for general abrasion/impact resistance. I'm sure Tom will jump in here with a few paragraphs more in a minute or two.

Anyone used a Divesoft Freedom DDC Computer?

I don't care in the slightest. Memory is so cheap that it barely registers as a feature.

Anyone used a Divesoft Freedom DDC Computer?

Start with the fact it runs on a single AA battery and is designed to be super low power. It's not a general purpose computer. “display drivers” “liberty has like 8gb of storage” :rofl3:
