I have both the Perdix and the Garmin Descent Mk2i (with transmitter) and hands down prefer the Perdix. I am a technophile, so truly like enjoy trying out new toys. The Descent has an annoying feature, a BEEP every 5 seconds that cannot be disabled. It can be "minimized," but IF you use a...
Notwithstanding the rudeness of the above poster, apparently L13 has not read the instructions: "The transmitter communicates wirelessly with your compatible dive computer. On the surface, it uses ANT® technology. Underwater, it uses a sonar signal. Your body, drysuit, and dive equipment can...
Congrats on your toy last year, and I hope its everything you wanted. Just as a followup, that was a wise decision. I have Shearwater, and numerous other computers. I too wanted a nice looking watch that would function as a dive computer. The Descent Mk2i seemed to meet the bill. However, some...
You probably already purchased your computer, but I have owned and used many dive computers mentioned above with over 40 years of diving and as a multi-agency rated instructor. The Garmin Descent Mk2i has an amazingly stupid design flaw. It BEEPS every five (5) seconds so loud that you can't...
<-- current Instructor for NASE (MI), SSI, SDI, PADI (AI): The difference is simple: Money. For me to issue a NASE cert, it is by far the cheapest cost for a student (below 1/2 that of PADI), SDI negotiates the rates so that is the next up tier; SSI (awesome E-learning site, far better than the...
In Fl, we have a statute, Fl. Stat. 57.105, which protects against patently false claims. Yet, none of what the guy seeks is related to the "damages" of the sale of CCRs or DOT markings; its about dissipation of assets that majority member A is doing. However, since he is the majority partner...
This is a civil suit in Broward County, FL by a minority member of the "corp" to the majority member alleging wrongdoing of the 80% member. There is no criminal action here, at all. That would be a totally separate proceeding, and would go in Fed. Court, not a state court proceeding. It just...
I attached a copy of the file for anyone to review. I note the Defendant has not even been served yet... I wonder how the OP is involved with this, when the Defendant hasn't even been served (no affidavit of service shows in the file yet filed by the process server). In Fl, you can be sued for a...
I SUCK at swimming and on my PADI DM cert, I barely squeaked in with minimum scores, most of it done on my back; on my SSI portion, similar and my SDI portion, the same. However, put me in a mask, snorkel and fins (or just fins) and I'll take out firemen carrying hoses (underwater) with my leg...
Recently, I have found that after diving (4-5x a week- 80 or so dives in the last 120 days) I have white heads all around my nose after a dive. I have a new mask (Mares Essence Liquidskin) and have used this mask for the last 4 or so months.
I've only developed this issue in the last 2 months...
I love the xtremes for snorkel or diving... and having the half-foot of the xtreme means I have booties to walk on sharp rocks/hot beach sand when snorkeling from the beach.
I really, really, really wish he did include it.

I would have thought the line would be, "if you have to find a body, it better not be yours."
Q: After i get this "certification", can i go home to my water (lake Michigan) and start diving? Yes.
Q: At some point i really want to buy my own equipment, and to be able to take my family and friends if they want to go diving, but i dont want to drag them through a course if they dont like...
This is not to be construed as legal advice:
Fl law: In this state, anyone can sue for any reason... simple: It does not matter the "chance" of winning. In Fl, most of these types of cases settle long before anyone "proves anything." We also have a concept of contributory negligence, meaning...
Nice progression! Grats. I live in South Florida, so we don't worry about the cold. It took me 30 years to get my certs, so you are progressing far faster than me! Grats!!!

First: Good choice on the Axiom: I love mine for the Wrapture feature that puts the weight on your hips instead your back. I love that (I have other sets as well, but that one has a warm spot in my gear rack) one. As to why you'd be neg or positively buoyant, the trim weights help to evenly...
