WWII Plane wreck dive sites in the Pacific?

I'm currently in Luganville, Vanuatu diving the Coolidge and the various airplane wrecks with Aore Adventures. So far we have dived a PBY Catalina, a Grumman Duck (I understand these two were only located quite recently by Sealark Exploration supported by Aore Adventures), and a Dauntless. Will...

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

So my drysuit has arrived! Regrettably we have just gone into full lockdown again so won't be getting it wet for a while, but some first impressions (try and take some photos later): For anyone in NZ thinking of taking this route, I was only charged the extra 16 gbp for a total of 112 gbp...

Dive Rite XT1 first stage refresh

I bought an XT1/XT2 setup for single tank when I started diving in about 2014. Now that I'm getting into doubles I decided to grab another XT1 for obvious reasons. The new one has a glossy surface coating compared to the matte coating on my old one, and is slightly taller as well. I understand...

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

Just had an email from Onur, they are currently running 2 weeks behind as a couple of their techs have had to self isolate. So hopefully my suit is going out on the 9th. Surprisingly fast response considering what I've read about their email comms.

@JBFG so your actual dispatch date was about two weeks beyond the estimate? My estimate was 23 July, and I'm already checking my email compulsively

    New a6xxx housing from Meikon

Thanks Barmaglot, I had no idea about this. I bought mine from a local camera store in June 2018 which is after that post, but who knows how long they held that stock so it's a possibility. I have had some issues with the 10-18 zoom ring slipping which could be a clue. On the other hand based on...

    New a6xxx housing from Meikon

Unfortunately the battery was quite low so I didn't hear it until I was back on the surface. I know from previous experience it doesn't take much to set it off though, a little moisture on the end of your finger will do it. I haven't had a chance to test at depth yet, will hopefully be able to...

The leak detector did sound, it seems to be pretty sensitive.

    New a6xxx housing from Meikon

Thanks for the input, that towel idea sounds great. I might try and find the issue first, as you say if its only in the backplate would be easier just to send that back. I have been using it for about 6 months just freediving, this was the first time I've taken it deep and first time using the...

    New a6xxx housing from Meikon

I recently got the VPS100 for mine, took it on a dive to 36m for 45 min and surfaced with about a tablespoon or 2 of water in the housing. Vacumn indicator still showed green. I can only assume one of the buttons is the issue. Any thoughts on best way to find the leak? Read about using talcumn...

    Weight systems and weight distribution

Definitely 1.5s, hmmm. I did a quick read of some threads on here and 12kg seemed roughly par for the course for guys with similar weight/5mm 2 piece/al80 in salt. Guess I'll just keep working on it, would def be nice to only be lugging 6kg of weight around.

    Weight systems and weight distribution

Cheers for the offer Frosty, I'm in east Auckland. I think I'm good for now though but nice to know there's other kiwi divers on here as well. Did a few shallow cray dives with the old man up at Great Barrier over the past week using 4x 1.5kg in the BCD and 4x 1.5 on an ordinary belt. He got...

    Weight systems and weight distribution

So after playing around with my BCD some more, I'm not sure whether there's room for a weight belt, as the BCD waist strap already takes up that space. Putting weight on the tank straps is an option but by the time I get ~16lbs on them I feel like it's going to make me very susceptible to...

    Weight systems and weight distribution

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the combination of pockets and weight belt (rather than having both ditchable and fixed on the BCD) is the most practical option based on the fact you can hand it up after a dive. I notice there are two styles of belt, the 'comfo' belt with weights in...

    Weight systems and weight distribution

So long story short, went for my first post-OW dive in my new VoyagerPac equipped with the 16lb weight pocket system (2x 8lb pockets) mounted horizontally. Chose those pockets because I thought it would be good to have all my weight clean and 'streamlined' on my BCD belt with dump handles easily...

    Overloading 16lb weight pockets unsafe?

Thought this might be the case. Guess I'll get a weight belt to hold me over until I can get some 32lb pockets. From the sounds of it if this is the only thing wrong with my first setup I won't have done too badly. Cheers all.

    Overloading 16lb weight pockets unsafe?

Hi there, I recently bought a set of 16lb Diverite pockets for use with a VoyagerPac BCD. I thought that would be enough (rookie mistake!) but after doing some dives yesterday I found that I need about 11 or 12kg total to get down (5mm double wetsuit, AL80, 6ft and 87kg in salt water). My...
