Mild, recurrent DCS - Risk of incurring a more serious DCS hit

I dive sometimes with a diver who had re-occurent lymphatic dcs in his shoulders. Most times on the same site. It is getting thick, not very painful, just a strange feeling. He is also doing technical dives and we figured out how we can avoid this. He is diving on 40/70 or 50/70, so let's say...

    Drysuit neck seal burn

No, I really don't like neoprene seals around my neck. So I will stick with latex HD. The hood does not fit well anymore too with a thick neoprene seal. Neoprene seals are not favorite for every diver.

    Drysuit neck seal burn

Neoprene neckseals don't fit everybody. My head is too big, or my neck too small. So for me it only leaks. I only have this in salt water, so it is no latex allergy. I don't use silicone neckseals and won't use them (I hate the ring, so I glue latex seals myself when needed to replace).

What is exact outcome of AOW courses?

Here is no law for diving, but people complaigned when I did as open water diver nightdives to 24m depth with another open water diver. And I was refused to do an icedive because of no AOW (but I did as open water diver icedives without that people then). So to stop these complaints, I did the...

What is exact outcome of AOW courses?

True. But the problem is that divecenters often make the 20m or 30m as a strickt limit. And sometimes it is because they want to sell cards. I have seen such a lot of strange things in my life. A normoxic ex-student (was certified by me for normoxic, so 60m) called me from Malta that he needed...

    Drysuit neck seal burn

You dive in salt water I guess. I have it only in salt water. It is from the saltcrystals between seal and skin. I put after the dive babycream on it. And sometimes lubricant on the seal. Further I do nothing. After a few days it starts to get less painfull. But it will not go away as long as I...

    no more diving

Just something to think about. You are always the only person who decides over your body. I don't know how it is in your country, but in my country you still are insuranced if you do something against a doctors advice. So being afraid of that is no issue here. So you was diving without...

Inner Ear Imbalance – similar experiences?

I have had this and did not remember anything about a flu or cold, but the only thing is that I was not hungry in the morning. And probably a side effect of Naproxen I took for the menstrual problems a woman can have. Nausea and vomitting is on the list of side effects. I have been vomitting...

Inner Ear Imbalance – similar experiences?

Neuritis vestibularis also causes nausea and vertigo. It heals without permanently damage in 1 week till 2 months. With almost every nausea and vertigo, this dissappears as soon as you hit the water, so even easy floating will bring a relief.

DIR- Generic New Santi Avatar Drysuit ordered—full review to follow soon.

Yes, go for the Airon. A little bit more heavy, but also thicker. I still use both, the dark blue one which is now 4 years old and the Airon which is now on its second year.

Question Should I become a tech diver? Mostly dive south Florida

Why not? Even if you don't do it often, it will make a better diver from you. And maybe you will learn to know new divers. I also became a technical diver without knowing one. And I live in a country where you don't have deep waters for technical diving (max 50m, a long way from shore). But...

    DIR- GUE CCR Fundamentals

The 18/45 vs 18/35 discussion has in my opinion nothing to do with safer. Nor oc, nor CCR. At 45m the difference in END is marginal. And really within the max END of 30m. But also at 50-55m there is no reason why 18/35 does not work within the limit of max 30m. And on oc you save a lot of...

    DIY/unguided diving in Egypt

In red sea diving safari you can do nightdives on their housereef. I know they also do a nightdive on Lahmy in the south, but then the lights of the boat are off. So shore dives are maybe no problem, but boatdives are? I don't know, I haven't been to dahab. The problem I have is that if you...

    DIY/unguided diving in Egypt

I only know red sea diving safari as option for solodivers. But there the unlimited diving is a little bit a scam if you want to dive solo as you are not allowed to do nightdives. So you will miss at least 1 dive a day if you dive solo and don't get any discount. Very strange in my eyes. So if...

    Deep Air Poll

Depends on agency. Most will say air or nitrox. But with nitrox some agencies say 1.4 as max PO2, others say 1.5. And this can make a difference in best mix for a nitrox. And if you want to hold the END at 30m, you have to add some helium. But for me personally it is a gas without helium. At...

    Deep Air Poll

With my cmas 3* cert I can go to 60m on air. That is within the limits of my cert. Newer 3* certs have shallower limits. But they cannot change my limit, even not if it is not written on the cert because it was done in a time of the 60m limit. With the heliumprices nowadays you see that deep...

Got a AOI UWL-03 Wide Angle Lens for GoPro

As said, you can remove the lens, but this is not very handy. And it can damage more quickly then attached on the housing and then jump in. Also it was not mentioned anywere about the unsharp shots above water, I did not find this in reviews when I bought it. So I took videos with the lens on...

Got a AOI UWL-03 Wide Angle Lens for GoPro

As said, it is only at surface. I did not do anything wrong. Maybe the AOI mount is better than the backscatter, I only have 1. But here is what happens if you use the gopro in the housing with the mount attached above water. If I make pictures with the gopro above water I use the biggest size...

Got a AOI UWL-03 Wide Angle Lens for GoPro

No, for sure not. I take the pictures in a square size and that means that you see the mount. This is for sure the case if you take pictures above water. (I took it with the mount on a canyoningtour, as I did not need to remove then the stick where it was attached on). And it is also for sure...

Got a AOI UWL-03 Wide Angle Lens for GoPro

I have the Backscatter wide angle lens. It is heavy. But a very important thing you can not find online (at least it was not written when I bought it), is that you have to remove the lens from the camera if you want to do filming above water. It makes videos from above water completely unsharp...
