Thanks for the info. I checked website of the associated dive shop (Amed Dive Center) and it does mention trips by boat to many Tulamben and even Pandangbai sites. Snorkelers welcome a big plus. Sounds promising.
Ouch! Well, I certainly appreciate the honesty. I had no idea it was considered second tier. I'll plan on making more trips up to Tulamben then, and maybe even try to get to Pandangbai. I realize the distances involved but my traveling partner isn't a diver and wasn't keen on staying in...
Luko, thanks so much for the advice. I'll definitely look into those operators on the south end of the strip. I wasn't aware there were any out that far. There was a long thread earlier in the year (started by discouraging someone from trying to dive all over Bali from Sanur or Kuta) and I saw...
I'll be in Amed for about a week next month. Anyone have recommendations on a dive operator? I like to get up to Tulamben at least a day or two, but it looks like all the diver centers in Amed make the trip. Last time in Amed/Tulamben I did all shore diving, so this trip I'd like to get to some...
I was curious about liveaboard.com (they have price on Palau Siren that was less than offered directly by ship) and saw your post. I subsequently found this thread and thought you might find it useful: liveaboard.com Can I trust them?
Happy New Year! Thanks for the post. Good advice about the Periplus Guide. The maps are amazing, so I'll make sure to invest in the paper copy. For Lonely Planet, did the you the general one or the Diving/Snorkeling Bali/Lompoc guide?
Leejnd, thanks for the dive report. I'm headed to Bali October 2015. Just booked flights last night. Woohoo! Were there any guide books that you used which were particularly useful or not? I've been relying on the Periplus for planning up until now. TIA.
I am just about sold on the DGX 600. Seems like a great value...and lots of recommendations--thanks! The beam seems so tight though. Anyone found this to be an issue for use as a primary?
Hatul and Roatan Joe, the specs for those models don't mention beam width. Any idea how they compare to...
A LDS recently sold me an original Geo (pre-2.0). I bought it as a back-up computer and didn't realize until too late that it was the old model (and actually built in October 2006 based on the date next to the serial number). Yes, shame on me for not noticing when making the purchase. In my...
I need a new primary light for night dives, recreational diving. I want to go with a rechargeable. I really hate buying/throwing out a handful of C or D cells for one or two night dives until a couple months pass before I get to use the light again. I'd like to stay under $200, which seems...
How can I purchase your products? I ordered several retractors from Berry Dive Center, which is perhaps the poorest excuse for an internet business that I've ever come across. Berry Dive Center is unable to fulfill my orders for your products, but I can't find some of your more specialized...
