Worth doing Extended Range (TDI agency) to 55m on air, just for the experience. Also it gets you used to handling two stages at lesser depths without wasting money on helium as precursor to doing Trimix. Its a good combo.

Its a thought but couldnt trust to get the sizing right. Am a bit further north than you in Germany. Is it sidemount/cave you want them for? I have the OMS Slipstreams which are neutrally buoyant and been happy with them.

I don't really understand this thread. I have DIN valves but always take a small Scubapro adapter with me to convert to International if required. Else get a DIN insert to convert to DIN if you have International. I have done both in the past. Not difficult.
Anything nice and light for travel by the brand names. Scubapro, Aqualung etc. Funnily these often breath better at shallower depths than the heavy duty deep water regs. If you buy used, which is fine, always factor in the cost of a service. You are normally better off with new and the warranty...
Please forget backplate and wing for single tank diving in the UK unless you like having the the piss taken out of you. It's a pose. You can trim fine in pretty much any decent BCD. If you are serious about diving in the UK, you will really need a drysuit and something like a Buddy Commando bcd...
