    Prescott Diving Help?

The "Prescott Playground" used to be accessed via a ramp off of a parking lot. A few years back they rebuild the parking lot and as part of the construction; they removed the ramp and it was never replaced. I'm sure you could probably dive it but it would be a major pain getting in and out. I...

Cave Incident - Jackson Cnty, TN

I think what they mean is that the part they wanted to explore is actually a dry cave, but you have to dive through a sump or some portion of it underwater before you can get to the dry part.

St. Lawrence Water Temperature - alxn6 no longer reports water temerature

I don't typically use the NOAA data but they probably don't record through the winter as the water is frozen. Even now the water is only a couple degrees above freezing (and cools at night). As for other sources, I like the St Lawrence Seaway website: Seaway System - Recreational Boating click...

    dive tank air time

Yes, I believe the way he did the test was to open the valve with nothing connected to the end of the LP hose, simulating a burst rather than a leak. I haven't had a burst hose but I've seen a youtube video or two where it happened. Watching the video was 'exciting', but if I was the person...

    dive tank air time

I found the post where somebody tested draining tanks using different methods at different depths. Original post is here: "Plugged end" of high pressure (gauge) hose This was the result of draining AL80 on the surface using various methods. I think the closest to what you're asking for is #3, a...

Conestoga - St Lawrence, as clear as it gets

I've done it before, I'll park at the Connie then surface swim across to land to get to the start of the drift. Just make sure you swim all the way across the canal to the dock where the houses are first, then cut across. Otherwise you'll get sucked back out into the river. Typically I'll only...

Conestoga - St Lawrence, as clear as it gets

Not quite that long, probably only 500-600m since they hopped in at the parking lot. Maybe it's Lock 23 you're thinking of?

    Winter pool time

Back when I first started diving I asked Kanata and Divers Warehouse. KDS said I'd need to hire a DM to be there with me (part of their agreement with the pools I guess?) and DW said I'd need to rent their entire pool unless I was in a class. That was back when they owned their own, I'm not sure...

Queen Anne's Revenge Lawsuit Appealed To SCOTUS

This seems to have been going back and forth forever, do I have this right? - State uses Nautilus' videos/images without permission - Nautilus sues State for copyright infringement - State settles and pays - State continues to use Nautilus' videos/images - State passes a law that allows...

Illegal dumping of lead/arsenic into waterways by SeaSoft

I wouldn't be surprised if the "unsold merchandise" was added in because it's reasonable to assume there is lead on lead weights.

New Posts v. Recent Posts? (a minor little question)

"New posts" will exclude posts that you have seen before (even if they're newer than what you see on the list). "Recent posts" shows you all of the latest posts/replies regardless of whether or not you've read them.

Korean diver dies in attempted rescue - Philippines

I don't like the idea of fighting with somebody who is probably in full fight/flight mode, pumped up on adrenaline and trying to survive. My wife's lifegaurd course was almost the polar opposite. They suggested that if you're in that situation, relax and let them push you under. Best case is...

Burnt from a heated shirt "Thermulation"

Have you ever used that heated shirt while not in the water? I don't know about this product specifically but some products are designed to use the water for heat dissipation. Without water the extra heat can cause wires/insulation to overheat and deteriorate.

    Maiden voyage

Makes sense to me. I figured the extra 2' wouldn't hurt to have and the excess just gets stuffed in the tank bands anyway. I'm using Faber LP85s, I wanted LP95s but I was a bit short on time and everywhere was sold out. I figure I need to get myself squared away before I start making any more...

    Maiden voyage

It's good to hear you're enjoying it, congrats! I'm in a similar boat with a maybe 2 hours in total in sidemount, but it seemed like I had to do a lot of playing around just to get the tanks to look half as trimmed as yours. I need one of those mirrors like the one in the back of your second...

Fatality Western Australia & Sat divers injured

I'm just wondering, as someone who's knowledge of saturation/working dives comes from magazine articles and the occasional forum post, how is it that recreational (tech) divers have been able to reach these depths "seemingly" without the issues that these divers had? For example (though probably...
