    Shearwater Tern and Tern TX

Some dive computers have built-in GPS. On those you can mark coordinates. (As long as you’re on the surface)

    Shearwater Tern and Tern TX

Does it have anything the Teric does not have?

Also, when a new computer makes a real splash (so to speak), it’s usually because it is upping the game in some way. A new flagship. The Terns are a downgrade from their existing offering. The only “improvement” is a lower price.

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

🤣🤣🤣 Despite the appearance given by my outstanding ability to second-guess myself and ask questions that make me sound ignorant and/or stupid, I have known what #S#P means for quite some time. Your philosophy on the user’s right to repair, the awesome engineering in the scooters, and The Fine...

No, the gloves are not going to stretch out and get looser. What do you have on under them? Most people wear very thin gloves under the dry gloves. If you are wearing the same kind of gloves that one might wear normally as winter gloves, they are probably a lot thicker than what most people...

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

Okay, but that still doesn't tell me what the consequences are for not having that protection. I mean, I *think* I am correct in what I posted regarding the potential consequences. I'm just looking for explicit confirmation or correction.

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

Thank you for explaining all that. I'm still left looking for confirmation on what the actual problem is that I'm being protected from by this voltage imbalance monitoring. Was I correct earlier in my summation of what could happen without the cutoff for a voltage imbalance? Potential for...

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

So, what does the voltage imbalance monitoring in the BlackTip actually do? And by that, I'm not asking how it works. I'm asking what "bad thing" is it protecting me from by shutting down if the pack voltages get out of balance? I thought it was protecting me from a situation where one pack...

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

I don't know how the PTB Piranha and Cuda X work. Do the ones with 4 x PTBs have some extra "something" that mitigates the problem of battery imbalance? Or does having 4 batteries just make it all the more likely to have your scooter shut down due to a voltage imbalance?

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

Maybe PTBs *could* be a great option. But, the way they work in my BlackTip makes them a really poor option, for ME. There is literally NO Quality Control performed on the Dewalt PTBs to certify them for use in the way that they are used in a BlackTip. Which means that, when your BlackTip cuts...

Yes, I believe that's the scooter where I got the picture (but on FB).

Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

I just saw this Magnus for sale on FB. What really got my attention was the battery pack for it that looks like a ... looks very similar to the Genesis Warp Core battery pack. And then I found a post from Fathom on FB from 2021 announcing these new battery replacements for Magnus and some other...

    Subgravity vs. Genesis dpv?

If you are looking for a scooter to handle getting to spot that is 2 miles from your entry, I would be looking for a scooter with 6 miles or more of range. 2 miles to get there, 2 miles to get back, and 2 miles of reserve capacity. There is a sticky thread in this subforum that details many key...

I finally bought a house in Cave Country! W00T!!!

I can lock/unlock/start my truck with an app on my phone. But, that keypad would let me leave the key in the truck while I'm, say, diving at Ginnie. A Hitch-Safe is the current substitute. And it does work. But, it's just not as nice as the door keypad.

I finally bought a house in Cave Country! W00T!!!

I had only Ford trucks for about 20 years. F150s, F250s, and F350s. Every motor they made during those years - except a 7.3L PSD. The 7.3 was too much of a dog for me. I had 3 6.0L PSDs, though. They sucked for other reasons, but at least they were not as dog slow as a stock 7.3. I switched to...

I finally bought a house in Cave Country! W00T!!!

Ditto. I love my EcoDiesel. I can actually go over 700 miles between fuel stops with plenty of reserve. Usually, closer to 800 miles. Having a 33 gallon fuel tank is awesome when you get 25+ MPG at 80 MPH. And yes, I have driven out a full tank without stopping several times. I am chomping at...

Teric owners, have you required repair or replacement service?

I just checked mine as I'm putting them on the charger. I charged both my Terics to 100% on March 1 (IIRC). Took them both in the water on every dive of a liveaboard in the Red Sea, March 4 - 11. They've just been sitting since I got home. The lowest one is still at 28% charge. Charging them...

    Scubapro Go-Sport vs Go-Sport Gorilla

Or, perhaps if you had stiffer fins, you would not have had to kick hard enough to bring you to the verge of cramps. I take potassium supplements to help prevent calf cramps. I take one tablet every day, to fight calf cramps at night. I take 2 tablets every morning on dive days. Also, in...
