Extremely BAD News: Dutch Springs likely closing permanently ...

Per my previous post, the similar dive site to Dutch Springs (near Harrisburg/Hershey) was called Bainbridge, I remember now. Went out of business years ago, but if it's still there and unused, could be a great business opportunity. Only about an hour and fifteen from Dutch, and better located...

Extremely BAD News: Dutch Springs likely closing permanently ...

You can do all the gofundme's you want but it's hard to compete with these big warehouse-obsessed companies. I used to dive at the site out by Three Mile Island in Middletown (Harrisburg). Wonder if that quarry is still around and available. The three-eyed fish were amusing.

    Safe Diving w/Aneurysm?

Below is more info from the CT scan last week, regarding the nodules. I know the lung scarring was from some exposures during my military service (late 70's), and likely from working in a cement plant in the early 80's, before masks were worn. I never smoked. The heart is normal in size. There...

    Safe Diving w/Aneurysm?

Thank you for your fast reply, Dr. Ebersole. I haven't been advised yet, I just saw the cardiologist last last week at the VA medical center. I'm sure she'll be in touch this week. But I'm concerned she may not be familiar with diving and just tell me not to dive anymore?

    Safe Diving w/Aneurysm?

I've had an aortic aneurysm for a few years (that I know of) plus some nodules, etc. The aneurysm has grown from 4.1cm in 2019, 4.3 in Oct 2020, and last week I had a CT that shows it at 4.8cm. The report is below. Is it safe for me to dive? I'm also a Divemaster and work in a rental shop so I...

    Rescue Course and DEMP

Hi Omar, I'd give Andrea at Dutch Springs a call at 610-759-2270 and get it set up. They have some great instructors there (Dave Thatcher, Bob, Chet) and you can rent any gear required all on site, meaning less stuff to lug around.

    Indoor Scuba Waterpark

They have that, it's called Living Seas in Orlando/Disney :-) Similar concept though, and a pretty cool dive. I've been trying to talk Stu at Dutch Springs into doing this. But of course, the ROI isn't there, and the amount of capital (as others have said) to do something like this is off the...

New Years Eve dive Dutch Springs

There will be plenty of divers, I'd just show up and ask around, you should have no trouble finding a person or group to join.

    Mares Dive Computer Tech Assistance

No android though? I'd like to be able to view my log from any of my devices anywhere, anytime. Can it import from Diving Log 6.0 and/or Mares Dive Organizer?

    Eye Hemorrhage

Actually it's interesting that you mention that. I've always had floaters, those are benign and common I believe. But I now recall that I've been seeing arcs of light quite prominently. I'll need to mention that to my doc as well. Is that a symptom of this type of hemorrhage?

    Eye Hemorrhage

I reported this to my primary doc, who said he wanted to do a battery of blood tests before bringing me in and sending me to a retinologist. I had those done last week, so hoping for some results this coming week. I'll report back. For those that have experienced this, is pain in that eye a...

    Eye Hemorrhage

I've seen posts on this topic where someone says something to the effect that since there's no gasses in the eye, it's not subject to diving squeeze/gas effects as are the lungs, etc. But there's blood vessels in the eye, which contain gasses, so in terms of this situation (retinal hemorrhage)...

Using Nitrox Analyzer for Repeated Measurements

Right, there's definitely residual gas in the analyzer, which is why I'm not resetting to 20.9 and it doesn't have a chance to come down naturally. This is a rental shop so we might analyze 3-4 tanks in a row within a span of a few minutes (doing log notations in between analyzing).

Using Nitrox Analyzer for Repeated Measurements

If I'm using a Nitrox analyzer (Analox O2EII Pro) to analyze several tanks in sequence, I understand that I should only make sure I'm at 20.9 for the first tank, and not change or reset the analyzer in between, correct? Should I be doing something else? It seems the reading climbs with each tank...

    Eye Hemorrhage

Thanks for all of the input. I got more info from the optometrist who saw this (on one of the new gizmos they have when you get an eye exam that takes pics of the eye). He said this is a large splinter hemorrhage on the retina in back of my eye. Does that rule out diving/mask squeeze as the cause?

    Eye Hemorrhage

I went for my eye exam yesterday and the doc said I have a hemorrhage in my eye. I don't have high blood pressure or sugar/diabetes. I'm 61 and pretty fit, not overweight, 5'10 185lbs and exercise. Not on any meds, no real health problems I've done about a dozen fresh-water dives this...
