Where to dive in September and October?

We like to stay at El Galleon and dive with the in site op Asia Divers. Only op with it’s on pier for getting on and off the boat. The restaurant at El Galleon is outstanding. Check my trip reports. I have two of them that describe El Galleon. I’ll be going back again this October. Also take a...

Where to dive in September and October?

Given how easy the Philippines is to get to for you, is why I suggested it. My diving there has been in Puerto Galera and Dumaguete. Months of April, October and November. September is still good, although to your point, Tubbataha is not in your window. It is a small one in the spring and early...

Where to dive in September and October?

For someplace new, consider the Sea of Cortez. Water temps and sea life in September are outstanding. There are liveaboard and land based options. I think the Sea of Cortez may have the best bio-diversity outside of the coral triangle. I have been on liveaboards to the Sea fo Cortez int he...

    Hotel Cozumel or Casa Mexicana

You can also get a 2 bed suite at Suites Colonial for $630 taxes included beginning tomorrow for 7 nights. It is across the street from Tres Pelicanos dive shop and on the corner of 5th Avenida and 5th Calle Sur. A block from the waterfront: ApartHotel | Quinta Suites | Downtown Cozumel...

    Hotel Cozumel or Casa Mexicana

Casa Mexicana continues to raise prices it seems. You could try their sister hotel Suites Colonial. I have stayed there numerous times and is right downtown and quiet and clean. I just checked the prices for a room and also the larger suites and checking in tomorrow for 7 nights is $600 to $650...

Options in the South Pacific - Fiji, PNG, Tahiti Others

Fiji for sure, given everything you have stated with your time constraints and the cost. It will maximize your time in the water for diving and will be a great experience. If you want any suggestions, feel free to message me.

Trip Report Philippines: 3 weeks in Puerto Galera and Dumaguete

Sorry for the delayed response. I see no reason not to fly with Philippine Airlines. My experience was solid. I prefer the direct flight to Manila from San Francisco or Los Angeles. My first trip to the Philippines was on EVA airlines with a layover in Taiwan and it was just long and exhausting...

Puerto Galera and Coron - how much time and dive shop advice needed

As far as PG goes, I am a fan of staying at El Galleon and diving with the on site dive op (Asia Divers). I have stayed there 2 times and both times were excellent and consistent. I have also done a week staying and diving with Atlantis in PG. Cannot complain about my experience there at all...

Trip Report Philippines: 3 weeks in Puerto Galera and Dumaguete

In addition to Allison, who primarily runs the day to day resort operations, there is a female Filipina intructor and dive guide named Rhea and she is there and has been for a few years.

Question Where to watch the Superbowl?

I like Casa Cuzamil for sporting events. They always have a great setup for Super Bowl. I watched both AFC and NFC championship games there on Sunday. Food is good and margaritas also good. It is on 5th Avenida South (sur) and just north of 3rd calle. Casa Cuzamil | San Miguel de Cozumel

    Where to stay in Cozumel

El Cantil does have a man made beach of sorts with lounge chairs and shaded palapas adjacent tot he pool.

    Where to stay in Cozumel

You might want to check out El Cantil Condominiums: El Cantil - Luxury Condominiums Aldora can pick you up from there. It is on the waterfront and downtown. Everyone can access the ocean and swim/snorkel, from the pier, but there is no "beach". Great swimming pool. There really isn't anyplace...

    Where to stay in Cozumel

As mentioned by others, we need a bit more info on what you and the non-divers are looking for. There are a ton of options. Aldora has its own downtown pier where it departs and returns from. But they can also pick you up from a number of other resort piers that are waterfront. If you want to...

Question Caribbean Dive Recommendations - Long Weekend Options

Doesn't make sense unless you only want to dive for one day? Travel Thursday, dive Friday, off gas Saturday and fly home Sunday? Maybe I am missing something.

    Question Seeking itinerary advice.

Papúa Explorers is on the short list if we decide to go land based in 2025. Seems like a nice option, based on what you and others have said. The lack of AC has been a little bit of a sticking point for some in the group.

Trip Report Philippines: 3 weeks in Puerto Galera and Dumaguete

Not sure what the Divers Ready tour is. I haven’t heard of it. My first week was solo and then the next 2 weeks was with a private dive club based out of Portland, OR.

Trip Report The Revillagigedos on the Quino el Guardian

Nice trip report and thanks for taking the time to post! The sister boat of the Quino del Guardián is the Rocio Del Mar. It is a bigger boat and more comfortable. Not sure if there is a big price difference between the two for the Socorro trip, if not, I would go with the Rocio for additional...
