One thing I would like on my shearwater. The abillity to upload a precalculated deco plan (generated from eks. MultiDeco, OSTC Planner or manualy created) to my DC and the abillity to access that plan on my DC during a dive.
Nope, for the reasons stated by others in this thread. Also I think it would be dangerous for the people most likely to buy this. I can imagine the scenario where a freshly minted diver with 3 finger 7mm gloves trying to locate the purge button while on the verge of a panic attack while inhaling...
What kind of back mount setup did they have? doubles with iso manifold? single?
I don't know the PADI standards, but common sense tells me that to relay on just a spare air as your only backup gas is very short sighted, especially for solo diving.
I suspect we will be diving with basicly the same computers we have to day.
Probably a bit updated but basicly the same, a bit better battery life and better screens. The Galileos are 11 years old now and is still produced, sold and popular today, and like the Suunto Zoop Novo is basicly a...
I normaly have 3 diving days a week (exluding scuba classes), and one or two dives each of those days. But it varies, sometimes, like now, I am totaly booked with scuba classes and don't get to do any "me-diving". and other times I am on a dive vacation and dives multiple dives 5 days a week for...
Sure you might be able to create a "safe" scuba/snuba/rebreather apperarus in your garage, if you know what you are doing (be very aware of the dunning-kruger effect), have a engeenering degree with speciality on regulator construction and design, expert knowledge on materials and tools used in...
I would not buy something like this. As I see it, it is a overengineered solution of a simple problem. Just let some water in to the mask and clear the mask, voila the fog is gone. Without the need to add more gimmics, failure points and o-rings. That said there is probably a market for...
I do ice diving in 0°C (32°F) freshwater with tanks filled to 250bar (3625 PSI) with no problems, also during the winter we often go diving when it is -10 to -20°C in the air and 2-4°C in the saltwater with tanks filled to 330bar (4786 PSI), and regulator freezing is not a big problem. Of course...
I also use contacts when diving, using soft one-day breathing contact lenses with extra width (radius), works perfectly and the contacts stays in place even when I removes / switches my mask(s) under water.
Two Flabellina Nobilis eating an hydriod.
A Limacia clavigera
Flabellina lineata
Flabellina verrucosa
Unknown species, probably a juvenile Flabellina verrucosa among nudibranch eggs,
What I did, and what I recommend, is to join a dive-club and go diving. Meeting, talking to and diving with divers of all experience levels is a great way to expand your skills and knowledge. And is fun.
My basic formula when I sell used stuff is 50% of new price, and +10% of new price if it is in very good condition and -10% of new price if it is beaten up but in working condition. That mostly results in a fair starting point I guess.
I don't think this is true. As I understand this effect it is because of the mammalian diving reflex, where sensory neurons on your forehead detects a change in pressure in your surroundings, this triggers a response in the body where the body prepares for working with lower levels of oxygen...
The last time I used a GoPro underwater is 2 years ago, so things might have changed.
I bought the PolarPro filter, it felt flimsy and sure enough the plastic flip arm broke on the first dive with it, sent them a e-mail and got a free replacement, great customer service.
The same thing happened...
Found this itsy-bitsy tiny Polycera quadrilineata on my dive yesterday

Does my previous photo seem to warm? looking on it on an another screen now, and it is much warmer than on the screen on my home computer.
What is "allowed" is dependent on the agency and the instructor.
I personally does not use AI, I don't see any real benefits of having it. For me it adds cost and complications only to give me information that I already have.
My "tech" setup is like this:
Left: Backup regulator, mini analogue...
I am diving both Apeks XTX 100 sets and Scubapro MK17+S600 combos, and both setups are great in cold water.
I prefer the diaphragm 1st stages (like the MK17) over the piston 1st stages (like the MK25).
I find the Scubapro setup to be a bit easier to breath at depth deeper than 40m, it might be...
