St. Croix - Tickets booked, now who, what, where?

Feel free to call the dive shop and ask about different locations. There are differences in personal preference and location. Here's a general guide: Driving: (USA vehicles (steering column on the left), but we also drive on the left side of the road since we used to be a Danish colony.) St...

Overall impressions from first visit to St. Croix

GREAT SHOTS! Indeed, 1-2 hour dives on just the first three sets of pylons can satisfy! We love diving the pier, and with 1/4 mile of pylons, it takes years to see it all and get to know where every creature calls home. It was rated top structure dive in 2015 by SportDiver Magazine and...

St. Croix - Tickets booked, now who, what, where?

Greetings Richard and Happy New Years! Feel free to shoot me a copy and I'll help in every way I can. 2016 was busy for N2theBlue! GoogleMaps gave us the StreetView and Trekker camera for 360' virtual drives and hikes. We are the first to have the camera (outside of Google employees or a...

New diver seeking next dive trip suggestion.

Greetings all! St. Croix is rather unique in the surrounding islands in that we have a Pier (One of the Seven Jewels of the Caribbean), Canyons, Reef, Walls, Wrecks, and spectacular night dives all on the same island. St. Croix is great for beginners, advanced, tec divers, photographers, boat...

Where are all the sea horses?

St. Croix, US Virgin Islands has the famous Frederiksted Pier -- the best place in the entire Caribbean to find seahorses. I've had tours with people counting 35 before getting bored with seahorses. Most dives are just 2-10 seahorses. Then there's all the other stuff, like Frogfish, flying...

A Big Marketing Lessons From A Tiny Island

I've been saying the same for St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Diving is a great way to have directed tourism with (typically) higher discretionary income. St. Croix has a lot going for it: world class diving on The Frederiksted Pier (Day and NIGHT), wrecks, reef, wall/canyon dives...

Waters are typically VERY calm, clear, and warm (~84'F). The west end of the island (Frederiksted) is in the lee of the island (shadow of the wind), to tends to be mostly like a lake with calm waters. Over 40 dive sites within 10-15 minute boat rides, and the Famous Frederiksted Pier is a must...

How was your first night dive ?

Night Diving in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands is great! Bio-luminecence is one highlight, but mostly its the famous Frederiksted Pier. The Pier is one of the Seven Jewels of the Caribbean and like a gothic cathedral. Shallow dive of 18-33 feet. Go in at sunset when the water is still grey --...

Any recommendations for dive destination with short boat rides to good locations?

St. Croix is great. I've travelled the Caribbean and this is my home, now. Diving is great, turtles, seahorses, reef, wrecks, the famous Frederiksted Pier (day and night), bioluminecence, wall dives, shore dives and boat dives are about 10 minutes for most sites.

Least expensive warm water diving for a few weeks

Greetings WizardTrips; St. Croix, US Virgin Islands -- Airport STX -- is pretty darn cheap. I just booked a roundtrip in March with STX/LAX/PHX/LAS on the itinerary. I'm flying back for my brother's wedding. The roundtrip was about $630 STX/LAX and PHX/STX in March 2015. US Virgin Islands...
