Advice for 5 hour stopover in Mactan?

thanks for the tip...I looked at Scotty's adventure sports, that seems promising. Cebu airport is ok, but for 8 hours it is a bit much! jf

Advice for 5 hour stopover in Mactan?

I get into Cebu at 8am, but don't fly out til 4pm. I know that many of the resorts offer day passes, but I can't figure out which ones have a nice snorkelling area (if there is such a place.). The boat trips to the islands look great, but the package trips would bring me back too late. so, any...

Manila Airport to Batangas Pier via public bus

thanks for all the great replies! I am gonna take the private transfer, cause I can see myself getting antsy and anxious if there are any delays...once I calculate paying for a night of accommodation twice (PG booking and Batangas emergency layover) the price would even out. I'll prolly do the...

Manila Airport to Batangas Pier via public bus

Hmmm. I am kind of worried about what nelsondejesus is talking about...now I wonder whether it isn't just worth the extra bucks to get a private transfer to the pier. I was quoted 3200 pesos by the resort for transfer to the pier. Maybe it ends up being worth it, especially if I end up having...

Beach front dive centres and resorts in PG

I think you missed Campbell's...I'll be going there next month.

Manila Airport to Batangas Pier via public bus

I want to avoid doing an expensive private transfer (traveling solo), and I am arriving too late to take one of the tourist transfers to PG. Anyone have experience with the public bus? Which line is reliable? I hear there is a scam where they take your fare and then the bus "breaks down" and...

Reasonable transportation from Manila to Puerto Galera/Sabang

I took a special bus-boat service to PG from the Swagman hotel in Manila. Leaves about 7:30 or so, gets to Sabang around 1:30. This was in 2005, not sure if this service still runs...only about $25 or so, better than a private transfer. Caution, the public bus is MUCH slower, and a rough ride.

Surface Freak Out (kind of long-winded)

Oh Yeah...about ditching weights: Would that have helped? I guess I would have floated higher in the water, maybe been getting less water in my face...but my problem was really breathing.

Surface Freak Out (kind of long-winded)

I did ditch the vest, and I wore a larger size BC. I realize now that the first BC I was wearing was too small...I couldn't get the cumberbund done up. When we tried it in the shop, I wasn't wearing 13mm of neoprene, and neither I nor the owner thought that the wetsuit and vest would make the...

Surface Freak Out (kind of long-winded)

Just to let you know...I did 2 dives today, at the same location and they were fine. I had no trouble at all, so I am feeling pretty good. Oddly, I watched another diver get towed out of the area that I was having trouble in...he was getting swept away on the surface, and someone had to go...

Surface Freak Out (kind of long-winded)

Thanks for the feedback...I am going to ditch the vest tomorrow, and that may solve the breathing problem. And I will get a whistle...I had a safety sausage, but there was NO WAY I could have gotten it out and deployed it in the state I was in. A whistle would have been ideal...of course...

Surface Freak Out (kind of long-winded)

I just got back from a real bust of an afternoon. I don't get to dive too often. This was dive # 19, and the first in several months. I was diving in sub-tropical waters off the coast of Korea, in a spot I have dived before--several times. I was buddied up with the dive shop owner. I was...

Does scuba diving ever freak you out?

Booky, I had (have) many similar fears as you. I am a new diver, and I don't get to go out very often...my last two dive sessions were a year apart! I got pretty nervous before my most recent dives. I think this is normal, though. I was buddied up with an instructor the first day, and the...

ear noises after a painful dive

Thanks...it turned out to be fine..I just was careful to go down slow, and didn't have a problem the rest of my dives.

ear noises after a painful dive

I am in the process of my AOW. I normally have little problem equaliziing, but today, during a drift dive, I had severe pain...I think that I may have descended too fast in order to stay with my (more experienced) buddy. I had a hard time getting anyone's attention, but my instructor spotted...
