outbound is no issue generally. inbound is where things could get dicey with checked luggage. I had a 90 min layover inbound from europe and made it to the domestic connection gate as they were already boarding after rechecking luggage.
there really isn't an advantage for the mk25 over the mk19, so you might as well go for the mk19. apeks atx40/ds4 would do the job too and should be cheaper.

maldives generally is a bit cheaper and the good sites have bigger sharks (hammers/tigers/bulls/whale sharks) if that is your thing
but macro and coral quality is far better in palau. vis seemed better overall too
it doesn't really matter, they all use the same rebuild kits. anything with a 1/2 inch primary port is TX/ATX version and anything later is 3/8 inch LP.
if you have already ruled out the predive switch and a hose issue causing it not to close the servo correctly, then its time to take it apart and check the servo.
aqualung dealer can put it in as a special order for you, but you're going to be waiting a while due to the reorg. you can try european shops like jonasdive to see if they have it too. or maybe @buddhasummer.
making shoes is not a service job. like i wouldn't tip the cheeseheads that made my thorogoods either.
iirc most guides/instructors are paid on commission like independent contractors that tips are probably factored in to get to that range of 800 to 1k per month. and the local boat crew are...
since you are fairly new, the diving with sandals won't feel that restrictive, but you may need to pick up AOW if you want to do the pitons. advantage with a local dive op is they aren't as restricted for dive site selection whereas sandals has to cater to the lowest denominator.
that's a franken bcd that someone cobbled together as it would not have been sold with the 65lb bladder. it should have been a scout bladder which is quite a bit smaller swapped onto a ranger to better fit warmer water diving than the 44lb bladder of the ranger...
