Soldier dead, companion injured - Taitung, Taiwan

been trying to determine if it was an actual scuba diver or not. the area mentioned is not a common scuba diving site. possible it was spear fisherman or snorkeler/freediver but little news in the local press

    Diving around Taipei

Yeah, sadly Scubar no more, but Joakim one of his instructors picked up where Nigel left off. He is taking people out most weekends.. https://www.facebook.com/Nomad.diving.tw/ NE coast season is just getting started.. though still a little too cold for me.. haha biodiversity been good over the...

    Nitrox/Trimix & CO analyzer

Ahh.. couple more random thoughts: . Looking at the MD61 datasheet, it look like it is not a linear result for helium from 0% ~100%, is that curve sufficient to account for error? . Are you using the original formula for calculating results or did you create your own? in the original there is...

    Nitrox/Trimix & CO analyzer

It was posted here captainigloo/Trimix-analyzer vs. https://www.winsen-sensor.com/d/files/PDF/Thermal%20Conductor%20Gas%20Sensor/MD62%20Manual%20V1.3.pdf

    Nitrox/Trimix & CO analyzer

Couple more random thoughts, in the old datasheet it shows sensitivity with 100% helium as 244mV, whereas you get 530mV. Interestingly latest datasheet does not show helium at all.. Is voltage for the sensor running at 3V not 3V3 or 5V? not sure others see similar output levels? but higher...

    Nitrox/Trimix & CO analyzer

Curious knowing 100% = 530mV would you happen to know the mV reading you get at 0% and also at the 40% this would help determine whether me or hw or fw issue. Having 3 data points would be really useful. You wouldn't happen to be using gain x8, that has a max input level of 512mV which may...

believe other side of buttons should be connected to (ground) 0V not 3V

    Lockdown Impacts / Implications

Sure, but Mexico's population is currently at below 5% vaccinated, no idea if Cozumel is above or below that average, so someway off the quoted 89%.. the world can't open up till destinations are vaccinated as well not just 1st world countries..

    Lockdown Impacts / Implications

It's very possible fully vaccinated are the ones helping increase the rates of infection.. just because your vaccinated does not mean you can't test positive or spread it. Yes, when vaccinated you are not in danger but other less fortunate unvaccinated are. If vaccine rates are very low in the...

    Breathing O2 during surface interval

This.. I like to do a longer than required safety stop, and I will also take time to go from the safety stop to the surface (minutes not seconds).. I see many ppl complete the safety stop and then immediately bolt to the surface.. as I get older slowing down surfacing makes me feel less...

Any value sucking on your EAN tank during ride back to the dock?

So what your saying is staying in an upper floor at the resort prior to flight home has more benefit :rofl3:

Yes, interesting read seems you both referenced the same case

Any value sucking on your EAN tank during ride back to the dock?

Curious if there is perceived or real value in sucking on your reg during SI or on the way back to the dock, if dives were on EAN? I mean I don't get a refund on any air left in the tank. I know NDL on my DC is not going to gain any advantage, but I assume I myself am going to gain from it? are...

    New from Taiwan

I'm not sure on the 'flying fish festival', I believe orchid draws include the wrecks and the good visibility however I understand there is an acute shortage of fish.. we're booked up for this summer so hopefully I can finally provide some first hand info. NE coast is different than the south...

    New from Taiwan

Welcome aboard, should also mention XiaoLiuqiu, which is pretty good and my favorite during off season. Last weekend some freedivers ran into a juvenile whale shark, about 1mth back we spotted an eagle ray, and last year spotted a white tip shark

    Atmos Mission One

Yes, very true Though at 9m and MED conservatism (85/40) i believe OP's theoretically looking at something like 420mins(?) NDL on your first dive which means over 5hrs before it will drop below 99+ which with my air consumption is as good as infinity

    Atmos Mission One

I guess it depends a little, I assume when you dive the computer switches into dive mode, and you can see the depth changing correctly? NDL is displayed just above the depth, it normally shows "99+" basically indicating infinity. It could be that you are doing dives shallower than 12M? in that...
