Just looking for some opinions/advice on pursuing DM/instructor as a semi-retirement job.
My particulars, I'm 45 year old and have been "retired" from my job of the last 20+. Financially I don't need to return to work...if I want to quit diving regularly. Which is not really acceptable...
I'm looking to fly out as I work an 8 on 6 off schedule and would like to fit the trips to the island in with out using any holidays and it's a 1600km drive for me. I could knock it own to 1200km if i flew out from work to edmonton. I hate the initial logistics phase of planning a trip but...
I am fairly new diver with about 45 warm water dives since December. I'm in Alberta and looking to make a few trips out to the coast to do some diving. The plan is to get some experience and training now when the surface temp is a little nicer and come back later in the year when there is better...
I'm not completely nuts my intention with this post was just to find out if it would be an issues for me with the DOs at a place that offered say 2 boat and unlimited shore dives heading out relatively shallow solo. It sounds like that varies. If I go on a dive holiday I want to be diving as...

LOL are 2 incompetent gits safer than one :D. All kidding aside that would be ideal but I don't want to plan a trip in the hopes I'll meet up with someone to get in all the dive time I want. But meeting good people is always a bonus.
Thanks for all the input. As far as safety goes I can appreciate the concern. I'm fairly comfortable at managing risks. Which is why I didn't really plan on hitting the reef or going much below safety stop level solo at this point. I can hit 20-25' while snorkeling but can spend enough time...
I recently got my PADI OW, AOW and EAN certification and am about 20 dives in to this great hobby. I'm looking at planning my next trip but just curious what I should expect as a solo diver as I don't have much experience to draw on.
Some of the places I've been looking at offer unlimited shore...
