    Descending Refresher

Okay, I've been back for awhile. Anyway, the trip was great. Took ya'lls advice to cross ankles and relax, it still took me three or four minutes to descent the first dive. But after that I was super confident and everything was fine. Didn't need a refresher course -- at least not to...

    O'Neill Pirate Logo

When did O'Neill stop using the pirate logo on it's wetsuits? My LDS has what I think is the perfect O'Neill wetsuit, but it must be "old" to have the discontinued logo. Any thoughts? It's a 1/2 neopren yellow/blue full warm water women's suit. He has it priced at 1/2 off. I'll...

Divi Cayman Brac - Check Out Dive ?

Does the Divi on Cayman Brac require a check out dive? Doesn't seem likely as we arrive Saturday night, prepaid for six 2-tank morning dives and depart the next Saturday. So don't know when we would squeeze one in. The Divi on Bonaire did require on - that was what brought on my...

    Descending Refresher

Thanks Jim & Don, My failure to be able to relax is the key to the problem. I am so wound up about the trip and the diving and the fish and the coral. And I have waited so long and saved up so much money. Ehhhyaaayee, it's a wonder I ever descend. Okay, maybe I'll read up on...

    Descending Refresher

Hi, I'm about to go diving at Cayman Brac after a year off. I did not have the opportunity to get any practice dives in at a local pool or such. Each time I dive after a long lag, the first couple of dives I have a great deal of difficulty descending (not to mention my bouyancy). So I...

I would like to hear from overweight female divers...

LuvsPoodles; In my three-four years of diving, no one has ever made a mean remark to me about my size, at least not to my face. So, are you back from your trip? How did it go? Please let us know. LuvsAussieTerriers

    Is Guaifenesin EANx safe?

Frank O said "I wouldn't use a pill-based decongestant such as Sudafed while diving, one of the reasons being that I'm usually diving on nitrox. However, I haven't run across any evidence that enough spray decongestant gets into the bloodstream to cause an issue with nitrox." I have never...

    How tight?

I own a lycra skin wetsuit that I wear to protect myself from bumps and for slight warmth. I recently lost weight and the suit is two sizes larger than my current size. I tried it on (dry) and it doesn't really seem that loose. How tight should it be? We are diving off Cayman Brac in...

    Hayfever & Scuba

I have allergies (to anything green) and sinus problems. Diving seems to clear out the sinus'. I am cautious and careful to equalize often. I only seem to have problems on very shallow dives, under 25 ft or so. Good luck, dd

looking for pix of Bonaire flying fish

Thanks all. I did not know the scientific name, but thought the common name was mirrorwing. I also use google image search and corbis.com, but I was hoping for a better photo from a board member. I am constantly amazed by the quality of photos from the scuba board members. Thanks...

looking for pix of Bonaire flying fish

Does anyone have a photo of the fish that "fly"? We saw them from a boat off Bonaire. They are relatively small, blue and appear to fly out of the water for 10 or 15 feet. Thanks, dd
