Bonaire - Suitable for long-term remote work?

I did this for a few years between 2008 and 2015. My wife also worked remotely but occasionally had to be in ft L or Miami so the place had to be convenient and cheap to get back there. I had my heart set on Bonaire but we ended up in Curacao due to overall costs especially flights. we spent...

Hawaii Big Island Update May '21

I just got back from the big island yesterday and boy was it nice to travel and get back in the water again. My last trip was to the Philippines in dec of 2019. All in all, it was a great trip. The pre trip covid test was a pita and we weren't sure we'd actually get allowed in. In the end...

Cebu Philippines- Where to go and weather in Nov-Dec

I just booked a cheap flight to Cebu last minute and I now just need to figure out where to go once I land. I'll be traveling Nov20-dec7 on advice from somewhere I read that that time of year is dry season. I may have been mistaken that that is the case and just want to check on here on local...

    Airlines to Sorong

Hey, thanks for the replies. Garuda's website must've been broken but it was working the last time I checked. Boy those flights are pretty expensive! This is pretty last minute too and as I only have two weeks I am trying to decide between there and the philippines.

    Airlines to Sorong

I am trying to plan a last minute RA trip in November/december. Which airlines go to Sorong and which city would be best to get there from? Jakarta or Denpasar? Or is it possible to get there from another Asian capital? I looked on Garuda's site and the site was either broken/or they don't fly...

    Watamula dive op

Yes andrew I wrote you a message thru your website. I know there is not an operation in Santa Cruz other than Captn underpants. If I meet you there can you do the boat out to Watamula? Probably won't call that number you put up there as my cell won't work in Curacao. Best to email me back.

    Watamula dive op

Thanks for the replies. I emailed the GoWest address but I haven't gotten a response. I guess I'll drop by and sign up when I get there. Or check out the santa cruz operation.

    Watamula dive op

Thanks for the reply. I'll check out GO West. I think I went with them on the house reef there. I've been to Curacao a couple of times before and I stay in Lagun. I do just generally plant myself there and don't find much reason to leave. In the past I've just rented a car for a couple of days...

    Watamula dive op

I'll be on Curacao next week and I want to do the Watamula dive. What operators do you suggest? Bonus if they can pick me up at my accommodation so I don't have to rent a car.

    Car rental for divers

What price have you been all been paying? I just went through kayak and got 177-187 for a small car for the week. I am wondering if I can do better. FYI I remember Bonaire having signs at the rental agencies that divers must rent a truck or a 100 cleaning fee would be assessed. I still...

    Looking For Great Caribbean Snorkeling

Curacao is good but if you've been to Bonaire it is probably about the same.

    Best Snorkeling In Europe?

Greece is surprisingly good for snorkeling. I have seen more sea turtles there than anywhere else. If you go off of rocky areas and not beaches it seems like the best.

    Recommendations For Best Shore Snorkeling

The best place I have ever been snorkeling is in Komodo National Park. I took a boat trip through there and they dropped us on this tiny unnamed island which had the most amazing underwater reef I have ever seen. Plus huge tuna, mantas and sharks swimming right off there in the blue. The island...

    Jakarta Airport

Yeah, the airport hotel is closed down. I recommend the Ibis Styles. It is right next door to the Pop! and very close to the airport. Closer than the FM-7. It is brand new and has a pool and a nice free breakfast. Plus an expensive restaurant and bar. I just stayed there last May. The price...

Month stay next year- Bonaire or where else?

And your profile says you live in nj. You must shoot your self everyday in that hellhole. I've spent several months in curaçao for a couple of times. And it is definitely my favorite for the above reasons. Bonaire is only diving. Curaçao has much more to offer top side. That being said it is a...

    Ambon vs. Bangka Isand?

I can't help with the diving but Ambon has to be easier to get to than Alor. You can fly direct there from Manado on Sriwijaya air for about $70. I am also planning this same trip for November. I think I will stick to Manado area and if can get there, banda. If not I'll stay around Ambon.

    Only snorkeling - best place?

I too had trouble getting accommodation in the Gillis before hand. Most people didn't write me back. It was easy enough just to show up and find a place though. I did this there and Lembongan. I was there in April-May. What time of year are you going? If in high season it may be more...

    Tulamben/Amed or Gilli Air?

Both are great you can't go wrong. Gili Air is a chill place and it's nice not to have cars around. ---------- Post added May 6th, 2015 at 05:43 PM ---------- Oh yeah, I didn't go to Amed but according to most people I talked to on the Bali/Lembongan/Gili tour it was a highlight. Just stay...
