    Cancun December 12-21

The trip was primarily planned with a Marriott hotel due to discounts and my elite status that I need a few more nights to retain for next year. In theory, I could get the 4 nights I need at the Marriott then move to Cozumel. This being my first trip down there, I didn't realize there was such...

    Cancun December 12-21

I will be staying in Cancun from Dec. 12-21, staying at the JW Marriott and will not be renting a car. I am looking to dive most of the days I am there. I haven't chosen a dive operation yet but I am looking to do a variety of dives including Cenotes, Wrecks, Cozumel Wall, Bullshark etc. I've...

    December Roll Call

I'll be in the area Dec 12-21. I'm staying in Cancun at the JW Marriott. Haven't made plans yet for dives, but planning to do quite a few over at Cozumel and some Cenotes as well. I'm rolling solo, so it would be great to meet some other divers.

ScubaPro 'Go" vs. Aqua Lung Zuma for Travel BC

I am looking for a great travel BC that would also be my primary, as I live in AZ and don't do much diving at home. I have never owned a BC before and have really only used the Mares rentals (can't remember the model) and a ScubaPro Glide Plus. I LOVED the ScubaPro, but it's too bulky for...

1 Month (June 2014) on St. Thomas

Ok folks, now that I have been here for 26 days, I have a couple of quick (full trip report when I get home) things I can report... So far I have logged 17 dives including my AOW cert dives, one of which was a night dive (Deep Mooring at Grass Key?). With my limited experience, I have found...

1 Month (June 2014) on St. Thomas

Thanks for the tips everyone... The anticipation is building and only a couple days left before I leave. Can't wait! As an added bonus, US Airways managed to upgrade me all the way there based on my status. That never happens to me!

    Getting Certified in Hawaii

So true! I did all of my coursework via the eLearning at home, but I actually enjoyed doing the pool work at Jack's. My instructor, Sarah Pulitzer, was fantastic and I felt it really made a difference for me that she was with me both in the pool and on the dives. For some reason the...

    Recommendations for a GoPro Pole?

I have the UK Pro Pole 22 and have used it both for diving and snorkeling in Hawaii with my GoPro 3+ Silver. I LOVE IT! The length is great for getting close shots and not too long to pull into my body for some up-close shots with Mantas on a night snorkel. The handle and wrist lanyard are...

    Getting Certified in Hawaii

I did my OW at Jack's Diving Locker in Kona. Jack's was recommended by every person I talked to on the mainland, and I am so glad I went with them. They were amazing at every turn. I want to go back to just to go diving with the people there again. Amazing 5 Star PADI operator.

1 Month (June 2014) on St. Thomas

Wow, thanks for the quick reply and the good info. Looks like Low Key Watersports has a lot to offer and will very likely play significantly into my plans. Great tip!

1 Month (June 2014) on St. Thomas

I arrive on the island June 1 and will be telecommuting from my rented condo at Sapphire Beach for the first two weeks, then on vacation for the remainder of the month. Red Hook Dive Center has been strongly recommended by some friends who are local, and it's close to Sapphire Beach, so I'll...

    FNG based in Scottsdale, AZ

Just completed my Open Water and Enriched Air certs with Jack's in Kailua-Kona, HI last week. The folks there were great! Looking forward to exploring the west coast and lots of dive travel in the coming year. With some effort and a friendly work schedule, I hope to complete AOW and Rescue in...
