    What Next?

I just came back from Komodo. Currents are indeed strong, but find a reputable operator who knows the area well and you can simply tell them you want to drift and not try to fight any current. Some times there is a bit of fighting to get to a spot to watch all the fish action, but if you prefer...

    Malapascua Trip Report

Yes, Evolution is anal like that and it also pissed me off. I cover myself head to toe including wearing gloves and they told me you can't wear gloves cause you'll touch things. I absolutely hate this assumption. I wear them cause I've had enough bad experiences with guides telling me there is...

    Komodo Trip Report

I have to agree with you. I love diving Tulamben for the macro life except the liberty wreck. I go to tulamben once a year and have always avoided diving the wreck after doing it once. Too crowded and way overrated. Didn't think there was anything to see.

Why dont you try P, AV, or TV mode? P is almost like auto and shoots in raw, too.

How To Experience Narcosis With Minimal Risk?

I remember the first time I went down to 30m and did a math and verbal question it took me a long time to register what my instructor was asking of me. I only realized after the dive that I was probably narc'ed so that's why it took me so long to answer the questions. Good thing I didn't do...

    Looking To Buy A Semi-dry.

Why does your suit require a lubricant to don whereas other brands do not with the semi-drys? Is the inner lining of your suits very different?

    Diving Borneo At Kota Kinabalu

Dont waste your time with diving in kota kinabalu unless you deperately just want to get wet. I was there last sept, viz was about 5-10m, marine life wasnt that exciting either (no pelagics and only the pikachu nudi for macro)

    Liveonboard recommendations

I think it depends on your budget and what you want from a boat. There are some nuances that can be annoying (e.g. I like single cabins and hate paying single supplements). Constellation fleet (MV virgo, leo, orion) and explorer ventures (carpe diem, vita, novo) both have nice boats.

    Pawara, Hallelujah, or... ?

I was on the pawara a year ago. Rooms were a bit small but fantastic food throughout the trip. I would highly recommend pawara. Free nitrox was a plus.

    Yonaguni / Ishigaki

I'm gonna go ahead and dive for that 1 day. I'll pray it will be a lucky day for me. There seems to be other pelagics, which is good enough for me. Any difference between Umicoza or Prime Scuba in Ishigaki? I'm leaning towards Prime Scuba only because they don't return to shore till all 3 dives...

    Yonaguni / Ishigaki

I'm heading to Yonaguni for 6 days diving in February and will be going to Ishigaki after that. I have 1 spare day in Ishigaki that I'm thinking of whether I should dive in the area. I have spoken to the operators and they told me that the likelihood of visiting the famed manta point is only 1...

Mola! Mola!! Mola!!! A report on my recent trip to Bali

I remember last year in oct at crystal bay it was 19*C when i was diving there and I was already freezing. Can't imagine 14*C. Glad you saw the mola though. This year seemed to be great for sightings. I'll probably try again next year.

    Canon G16 setting

I went with manual settings on my first dive. Initially it took a while to figure out what to tweak underwater, but seemed to have gotten the hang of it after 2-3 dives. For a first timer on manual, the pictures certainly weren't too shabby after post processing. Much better than I had imagined...

Dilemma in choosing Liveaboard for december 2015

I was on the Pawara in feb this year. Nice big boat with fantastic food. The dive deck is packed so divers gear up in waves. The cabins were a bit small IMO (I was in the master cabin but still found it small) and had ensuite bathrooms.
