Diving Martz Offshoot At Peacock Springs

nice. I always loved the distance tunnel but have never gotten around to Martz offshoot. Is it doable in BM? tough to tell from the video. Nice video btw. What sort of lighting did you use?

    What Gear Not To Buy

I see posts all the time about new divers needing help to choose gear. When I was getting started, I loved to buy gear. In between big purchases (BCD, Regs, Tanks, etc) I would stop in and drool over the expensive stuff and usually would end up walking out of the shop with some minor piece of...

    Bcd Help!

Hollis HD200 is a very nice BC. I used it before switching over to BP and wing and still use it for OW rec dives. It's been great to me.

Petrel 2 - OC Tec or OC Rec

I am sure of the @+5 being in the rec mode but not 100% on the GF 99. I know you can see the tissue loading graph which is what I rely on since it gives a bit more info.

Petrel 2 - OC Tec or OC Rec

I use OCRec for all of my dives right now but the most Deco I am doing is 10-15 minutes with 30-32% and an O2 bottle. I imagine as I grow into more technical dives I will switch over but for now, I love the rec mode. It is very well laid out. I heard that the new one from shearwater (Perdix)...

Most compact and lightest exposure protection suit?

You could go with a drysuit. Most are very light and easy to pack compared to wetsuits. The only problem is you will not be able to free dive.

    Petrel or predator

I am moving into more advanced tech but would like to avoid the premium price of a new computer. If you have an old one collecting dust, please let me know. Thanks.

Why do caves close to diving?

I have a canoe but my double 104's are tough to get in and out of it. I can't really afford a boat though. ****, I can hardly afford Ginnie when the rest are closed... B reak O ut A nother T housand ---------- Post added March 11th, 2015 at 10:54 PM ---------- Out of curiosity, what rules...

Why do caves close to diving?

Specifically I am referring to the state parks that take recommendations from prominent cave divers. My buddies and I all joke that those people recommend cave closures to have the sites to themselves. I know this is not the case but it still baffles me me a bit that some of the most rigorously...

Why do caves close to diving?

15' of vis does not exactly equate to a blackout. I just think that if you prepare for a lower vis dive that you should be able to continue to dive. I don't know how much cave diving you do but there is a line in place to prevent disorientation... Sump divers and cave divers from outside of cave...

Why do caves close to diving?

I understand that the rivers rise and the caves along the Suwanee get blacked out from time to time but why close them off? One of the best dives I did was in Orange Grove sink where there was 5-10' vis for the first hundred feet of the cave. It made it a completely different dive from the...

Cave Training and Etiquette Real or Imaginary?

Not sure if this is an isolated frame of mind but during one of my cave classes I was told by my instructor that because I was local that I would be held to a higher standard but that people that take classes from out of town where there are less caves to dive get a pass on the finer points of...

    Tech gear

No need to be rude. I am just going by my experiences with this agency. I am glad that yours were different because every interaction I have had with a GUE member in person was not exactly pleasant but that is a topic for a different thread. In any case twice, my gear was scoffed at by GUE...

    Tech gear

The only one that is remptely that way seems to be GUE and it isn't even mandatory for you to buy their Halcyon gear but they will push it harder than any other agency will push a brand. Get what works for you and is affordable. Shop around, wait for sales, and buy bits and pieces at a time. If...

Suggestions for a new dive computer

Caves are not the only thing that I dive and I was just asking about air integration later down the road. I have heard people say the same thing about Dive Rites customer service and I have never had a problem with any of their gear. Is Shearwater that much better? I am still getting the...

Suggestions for a new dive computer

I am currently intro to cave certified and have plans to take advanced nitrox and full cave later this year. That being said, I think that I will be needing a new dive computer because the mares puck that I have right now simply won't cut it anymore. Do you guys have any suggestions on a good...

    Hog D2 replacement parts

That piece is bent from being dropped causing it to bind and not unscrew from the tank. The closest hog dealer is 2 hours away and they want to charge an additional $35 service fee plus whatever the cost of the parts are. I was hoping to be able to skip that and just order the part myself since...
